is upsetting. Because it's brilliant. And everything else on the album is lame.
Out of Routine and I am What I Am Not are good. Overproduced, but still better than the last Idlewild album. I hope the new one is good. But I doubt it. I like Roddy's solo album though. I must confess, I've forgotten what the fuck my point was...
seem to have been in danger of forgetting they were any good?
turned into roddy and pals. thats the problem. its not a great album, but its got moments of wonderfulness.
...I'll always have a soft spot for them, while knowing there's no chance they'll be as exciting as they used to be (just like I feel about the Manics as it happens...)
When he first played their new single claimed it was back to the old school. It isn't. It's just not as exciting. They've lost that part of them that made them special, and they'll never get it back.
Doesn't mean they're not still a good band, though. Just not special any more. But those memories of sweaty gigs in Wolverhampton dives... those are special.
seriously, American English, You Held The World In Your Arms, Scottish Fiction, Stay The Same, Live In A Hiding Place... pretty much every song's ace.
It's what came after The Remote Part that was a bit disappointing.
i rather like in remote part. but none of the tracks are quite as cool as a modern way of letting go.
LIES LIES LIES
is probably my fav Idlewild album. Warnings... had its moments but is probably my least fav album theyve done. Ive only heard the new song about twice but I'm glad that theyve gone back to their rock roots.
'Warnings/Promises' is where it goes totally wrong. The new single sounds pretty "meh", in my opinion.
