Drew Daniel mentioned The Race Is On Again by Yo La Tengo, which is my favourite song this year. Very closely followed by We Share Our Mother's Health.
There's some good mentions, but the indie (s)nob in me had me sneering at the #1
It's not even the best song from the album.
Loved that album and that track!
And no Leichtmetall 'wir sind keine kabarettisten' !
Pitchfork is so wrong ! ( or is it me ? )
Great to see Apple Orchard rated so highly.
Young Folks is my number one.
basically all the songs i've heard off it are ultra-class.
have a "pop" song at number 1, don't they?
Disappointing to see Oxford Collapse so low down. Expected to see them right up there, especially after they featured on the Infinite Mixtape. Even more disappointing to not see Crystal Castles or Born Ruffians feature AT ALL, but that's probably because Pitchfork is slow and way behind the game.
best line ive read in ages
"My Love" IS a fucking banger.
The whole LP is in fact.
The new Quincy & MJ????
I thought Sexyback was better.
i'm almost going to call it the best electronic album of the year.
i really might.
I haven't heard the rest of the album. Is it all Timbaland or what?
it seems to be all timbaland, but, y'know, i didn't pay for liner notes.
it actually feels like an LP, not just 2 singles and filler, and while it's not quite "Thriller" in my estimations just yet, i think it IS this generation's "Thriller". Although the similarities between Timberlake and MJ are really clear, the record's got enough personality to win out.
It's not as good as "Silent Shout", but it's certainly comparable.
That stuttered synth thing is SO trancey. To be fair some of the synths in Silent Shout are actually quite trancey too. I don't really know what point I'm making. But yeah... I'm gonna download the album. Or something.
but yes, download it!
there's not much in the way of dodgy ballads, and even then "Take Away Your Love" reminds me of "All is Fair In Love" by Stevie Wonder in some way, so it's not all bad.
My Love is brilliant!
