Dated, boring, impactless, snoozeville.
boring, impactless, and snoozeville ?
the debut may be a little dated. evil empire still sounds awesome to me though.
For me, 'Evil Empire' was quite boring compared to the first. 'Battle Of Los Angeles' was their second best album.
But EE and The Battle Of have both dated incredibly badly, I only listen to the debut these days...
the production on the first album is gash, and on the second album its clean as a whistle, sharp as a thistle.
that said, at afterskool on saturday they dropped Killing In The Name in the middle of a whole hip dancey indie set and it was fucking brilliant.
EE is better, but pump them up loud and they both sound amazing.
the battle of LA though.... that's not so good al...
I only listen to the first one these days. It still has its charms.
is never as good as un-protest music.
Also, they fused two genres of music that I don't ever listen to, unless I've got no choice.
To put it in... Brainlove terms, it'd be like the prospect of fusing Rock and Roll with blues.
I would give anything to have been 13 when their debut album was out.
This. I was 14. I think I was more blown away by the sheer visceral force of RATM than by hearing any other band for the first time before or since. It was an incredible time for music, don't care what anyone else says.
yet were younger when RATM came out. Such is the passing of time!
Yeah, but to be a teenager and have such an unrivalled choice of noisy rock at our fingertips that actually seemed to MEAN something at the time....
Yeah, you're right. We're old bastards.
This always happens when I listen to Godflesh.
& double yes !!
I was the same age when I first heard it and I was like "Arggghh fuck you everybody"!!
Love The Rage !
What, like Blues Rock, a genre that has been wildly popular for the best part of 40 years?
brainlove would hate bluesy rocknroll, which is just wrong, as he completely loves that sort of stuff
Rage are still awesome.
is still a 100% treat, and you all know it.
It is not snoozeville. You should be irradicated for such nonsense spouting forth from your delicately practiced wrists.
is just a mixture of country and blues anyway
but the passion they have for their music and their beliefs is/was second to none.
they were one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Nothing in the last five years has bettered them in that respect.
and they were superb.
I thought the first album was incredible when it came out.
but I respect them for their beliefs and passion as you say.
Also, to contradict wrighty, I think protest music is often better than un-protest music. Songs about sex/drugs/rock and roll are all well and good, but if a band/artist is actually railing against something it gives it more of an impact.
that he finds it "offensive".
MORE SONGS ABOUT GIRLS PLZ.
still sounds awesome
I'm offended by the quality of the music.
"Fuck you I won't do what you tell me."
Totally angry, totally passionate...
It sounds like something Lil' Chris would say if he got angry.
i never said you were offended by their lyrics, but that you've said in the past you find musicians talking about politics "offensive".
to RATM now, but I'm at work. :( lame.
the other things ? no
