Someone tell Frank!!
Just e-mail ebay about it and they'll remove it.
He'll know what to do.
What a bunch of tell-tales!
they only care about the major label stuff...
it'l be cheaper than the actual release:
i'm going to bid.
surprising, but ok...
that ebay only care about major label things, and so wont remove it. cos theyre pricks. not that xtra mile or frank wont care. because they will. just in case you were confused.
yes, i was slightly confused - to be fair, i couldn't see how frank/xtra mile would be ok with it. would ebay not do anything regardless of the fact that it's not a major label release?
its a promo, its been put in the public domain - not like a leaked unmastered rip or something. its not someone flooding the market with pirated cdrs. yes, the promo probably says "property of xtra mile recordings" on it, and they can legally have it stopped, but, really, whats the damage?
if one person wants the album enough to buy it in advance with no artwork, and chances are at an inflated price, chances are that theyre a big enough fan that they'll buy it or release anyway.
note: ive never sold a promo
largely because i cant work out how to sell things on ebay.
what pisses me off about promo selling:
i myself have never received promos. the people that do are essentially dicking over the people that are giving them a free gift. not only a free gift, but an opportunity to hear something before everyone else gets a chance to. & then to turn around & profit from this is just not right. this is obviously a lack of appreciation of this gift. in my perfect world, people who would truly appreciate this gift would receive promos. not twats who just want to make a quick buck.
people who review it or play it on the radio rather than a "gift"? It's called a promo for a reason.
Selling them is bad but I've bought a few myself (as they're usually ridiculously cheap) so I can't complain. I've never sold any myself though. I probably should as I've got bags of ones I never listen to. I could just put a bag of 100 promos on ebay not saying what they are and see how much it goes for. Probably about as much as this is going for. £1.99. Excitement.
in a gift's pure sense. but considering **I** don't get one, and most people don't get one, it's a *kind* of gift.
for an inflated price on ebay is good publicity for the artist anyway.
i was pissed when i first saw people selling our stuff.
now, i don't care. if people want to spend £10 on a cdr which cost us at the most 50p to make then that's their problem. i'm just pissed off the seller is making money and we aren't. ;-)
and its one sale youre missing, and the chances are they'll buy the proper release for the artwork
That was more or less the crux of my argument. Since Xtra Mile are a smallish indie label, I would probably be fairly peeved if I were them...
...maybe that's just me, though.
wow wow wow !
