I prefer the Manics' version to the one that god wrote.
By a LONG way.
this reminds me of the chapter about it in Simon Price's book.
"there's also a book by the same name, but you needn't concern yourself with that."
there were people queuing outside the Apollo in Manchester last night for their gig on Friday.
They'll catch a death before they catch a glimpse of the band... unless there's a pie shop or a place what sells Hoovers over the road.
especially because it's the XFM Winterwonderland with about six bands playing, so in reality they're queuing for two days for a 45 minute set...
maybe they were the crazy groupies on the Nynex vid who're hoping to get snapped and/or filmed again!!!!
I remember queueing for their Brixton gig in 2001 from 2pm because of my Manics obsessed friend and people had been there for 24 hours already.
An absolute classic.
do i get a prize?
BURN BURN DIE.
and raise you a MSP in general - vastly overrated, seeing as they sound like bon jovi most of the time.
and I full expect proper bellends to come on here and say stuff like 'overrated'.
Just you wait and see.
from the couple of listens ive given it.
whats so good about it? anything as good as Ocean Spray on there?
was supposed to make bamos look like a bellend, did it work?
It's me who looks like the bellend, isn't it?
Oh well, it's me and you again, colonol.
but also incredible to listen to. Quite how it produced top 20 hits is beyond me.
their best by a country mile.
for a pound but haven't got round to playing it yet.
album. Even though I like some of their other stuff, this is just so far beyond anything else they acheived.
my favourite album in the world ever. fact.
doesn't have a talking snake in it though.
and the original makes no reference to Trotsky either, which is annoying when attempting to cross reference them.
In my top ten of all time.
Bleak as a really bleak thing, like a gray field in the Shetlends in the peak of Winter which is full of people considering suicide.
I love it!
its actually very uncomfortable to listen to around other people.
try putting it on at a party
And I hate god ( everytime I look in the mirror ! )
the melody maker set
the whole of God's version from beginning to end. If not I don't think your opinion is valid. There's some great bits you know, some really classic moments.
there's a lot of trendy twats who like to knock the Manics but this is a classic record
give me their worst record anyday over a Razorlight / Keane / Bloc Party / Franz etc
I'd rather listen to Franz than anything they've produced since Everything Must Go.
Definately in my top 5. I don't hold it against them for not doing anything as good since.
Maybe they shudda changed the name of the band though?
is my favourite song on the album. I hope I'm not going emo...
when that album did not leave my cd player for 6 months, and this was before I had a multi disc changer.
Ahh to be 15 and miserable again, I'm far too chirpy these days.
my favorite might be "intense humming of evil" or "archives of pain"...if only theyd only released this and "everything must go" (with "tolerate this" and "motorcycle emptiness") they would go down as THE best band of the 90s (maybe)...
on a related note richey james = sid vicious x 1000000...whats the odds hes still alive (someone reported they'd spotted him in india or something...?!)...
so it clearly isn't Richey.
He was probably miming - we know he could do that!
I love how it's so flawed, but perfect at the same time. It's so important to me.
i love it along with everyone else. easily the album that meant most to me when growing up
the lyrics seem a bit childish in places. And they don't really scan. And if you don't let yourself get lost in it, the over-the-top emotion gets comical. But I love it more than anything.
most complete, most angry, most cohesive album. i know i've slagged off their lyrics, but this album was a triumph. i love anything angry SO MUCH
and a bit poetic (probably a bit socialist as well, not that i know anything about politics)...i cant help thinking they were written before the melody...either that or the melody writing is particularly unmelodic...either way it gives the album its "character"...
but I used to adore it.
I might go listen now
but it left me cold before...
Never fails to amaze me when I go back to it. Lyrically, it's great, but the music behind it makes it really special. There are some really weird guitar effects and solos on there.
