Just joking....threads disappearing without replies are pointless
who would want to listen to your opinion on anything? if people don't agree with it, THEY'RE WRONG AND LIARS.
I'm sad then...
who post them knowing that they're going to be pointless just to make a sad little point about it
does anyone remember Kitchens of Distinction? Recently discovered them. Could have been from reading DiS actually, but I can't remember.
Anywats, they're pretty good, bit bunnymen.
they were good
no, i havent heard the associates
but werent they a politcal ska punk band or something?
steve lamacq liked them
interpol resemble kitchens of distinction. which is very true.
I have a Kitchens of Distinction anecdote but it's really not all that interesting...
'I once bought a Kitchens Of Distinction record'. Because that's mine. Is yours better or worse?
I used to rehearse at a rehearsal space in Hammersmith where Kitchens of Distinction (in the twilight of their career) also used to rehearse
one night we turned up at the rehearsal place to find a bailiffs notice on the door 'cos the owner hadn't paid his rent
anyway - we managed to break in and we discovered that the bailiffs had piled all the music equipment that didn't belong to the owner in the loading bay area so we grabbed all our gear plus a few extra guitars that were lying there
it turned out that the few extra guitars all belonged to Kitchens of Distinction and they tracked us down and were VERY angry so we gave them their stuff back
told you it wasn't very interesting
I thought Traynor would have some good recommendations of 80s bands.
Recently, I have discovered that I like The Icicle Works and Orange Juice.
you should also check out The Railway Children, Lilac Time, Dream Academy and It's Immaterial
The Fire Engines
thanks both. I heard a Comsat Angels song on the radio the other day, I liked it. The only other one of those bands I've heard of is The Au Pairs. I shall listen to the others!
Pink Industry/Pink Military
Trixie's Big Red Motorbike
Lori And The Chameleons (different Chameleons)
Young Marble Giants
Girls At Our Best
Theatre Of Hate (first band I saw live)
Section 25, Young Marble Giants, Cabaret Voltaire and The Blue Orchids also have my recommendation.
There's lots of eighties sounds on the tape I sent you.
But not by the bands you list.
used to roadie for the Icicle Works.
He was a dude.
I was being grumpy.
I saw The Icicle Works at the ICA in 1984. I hadn't gone to see them - I had gone to see the support: Strawberry Switchblade.
During The Icicle Works' set Julian Cope got up on stage and danced, in leather trousers!
Icicle Works = good
Julian Cope = good
dancing = good
leather trousers - BAD
You need a very big personality to get away with them, and Cope has one.
seem to have forgotten about the House of Love 86-88 compilation I ordered from them.
you know what I mean
ANYWAY, The House of Love were great.
this thread is the best place to say again :
LISTEN TO 'SEPPUKU' BY TAXI GIRL !
Julian Cope collects model airplane-type shit. Go figure!
