Merry Christmas Me!

oceanRain [Edit] [Delete] 7 replies 21:40, 1 December '04
I've told myself this year's gonna be different. I'm usually all caught up giving gifts to friends and family, helping the homeless with turkey dinners and so on. But this year I'm not going to forget the true spirit of Christmas: receiving presents. :-)

2nd Spin:
Richard Ashcroft - Alone with Everybody/Human Conditions. Urban Hymns was great, que no. So why not give RA solo a shot, I say.
Blondie - debut record. Together with Parallel Lines, this completes my collection's necessary Debbie Harry fixation.
Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress. Ooo. My first B&S. I hope this is one of the better ones.
Frank Black - Teenager of the Year. Hear his solo stuff ain't no where near the Pixies.
The Damned - BBC Sessions.
Franz Ferdinand - s/t. Their single is overhyped and just fair. But they might be good. I shall find out for myself. ;-)
Garbage - Beautiful Garbage. I really want their debut record, cos it's great. But at the used record store ya takes what ya's kin get, eh?
Public Image - Second Edition.
Smashing Pumpkins - Pisces Iscariot/Earphoria.

Tower/Virgin
The Wrens - Meadowlands. This is the only record I paid full price for, $18. Someone here said it's unreal brilliant and Pitchfork confirms.
Suede - The London Suede. I can't remember if I liked these guys or not. Bought it on a WTF! impulse.
Siouxsie & the Banshees - juju. This is a great record for people who like to celebrate Halloween year 'round.
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks. I larf at the kids today who are "punks" who'll say to me, 'oh yeah, I think I've heard of them before.'
Iggy Pop - Lust for Life.
Blur - Modern Life is Rubbish/Think Tank. Both on sale! Now I've got all the Blur albums again my breathing has improved. ;-)

As always I open myself to yer criticisms and comments. What's on your X-mas wish list?

Oh yeah. I also got Manic Street Preachers' This is my Truth and The Libertines EP I Get Along. Is this a good Manic Street Preachers record? I don't know much about them to be honest. Bought it cos a lot of yous like 'em. Anyway, I got a good feeling on this one. As for the Libs ep, I hear it's one of those hastily put together fillers between records, despite Don't Look Back into the Sun being a good song. Hmm. Pete and Carl doing something half-arsed... that's hard to believe, eh? ;-)

Pulp and a few others and my collection will be respectable again. :-)

"This Is My Truth..." is top stuff in my opinion. Most people here think it's crap, but hey, they're just wrong :)

Best Manics albums are "The Holy Bible" and "Everything Must Go". I think most people would probably agree with me there! Well worth the sale price or, indeed, the full price.

Happiness in Magazines - Graham Coxon

If only Tool would hurry up and just release a record.
