At forst listen, it is a bit disappointing.
A few good songs but...
Maybe I'm not in the right mood !
But it's still quite a nice record, with some really good tracks.
not as good as I was hoping seeing how I love all their respective bands.
Still a pretty decent album though, maybe expectations were too high.
Swan Lake is a Canadian indie supergroup comprised of Carey Mercer of Frog Eyes, Daniel Bejar of Destroyer and The New Pornographers, and Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, and Frog Eyes.
but that All Fires song is amazing :)
The songs are all incredibly well written, the lyrics are consistantly awesome, and the instrumentation is interesting & dense.
I think the songs are understated, and I love the fact that no one person dominates. There are songs that sound just like good track by their respective bands (The Freedom = a Destroyer song) but there are other ones which transcend their pedigrees and thats pretty rare for a supergroup.
Some really good songs, some meh
All Fires IS amazing
First listen certainly wasn't what I expected.
Might take time to enter.
I used to love Frog Eyes, Destroyer, Sunset Rubdown...etc...
But i just can't listen to them anymore.
I don't know why.
And its the same with this record.
They're the only one of the three bands I really like and I like them very very much. Is it worth someone like me getting it or is it just mellow indie-rock without the manic punch of the Frog Eyes records?
very frog eyes-ish. Not much manic singing on here. much more mellow...
