The Transgressive one this week is infinitely better than last weeks 1965 one. Dear god, that's one shit label.
they used to do some amazing free CDs, up to about the week they re-designed it and had 'Hanging With The Strokes' CD on the front. i've been thinking about this 'cos of listening to lots of Quickspace recently, and i found out about them from the C96 CD from ten years ago. My favourite though was probably Sounds Of The Summer form 2001 time with Beta Band, Destiny's Child, Oxide & Neutrino, Squarepusher, Felix Da Housecat, the single version of 'The Modern Age', Sticky Fingaz, Slipknot, Mogwai ft. Gruff Rhys...
introduced me to the strokes, mogwai, beta band, gorillaz and slipknot (WAAAAAAIT ANNNND BLEEEEED!!!!)
i don't think there was any squarepusher on it, i reckon i would remember that...
You're gettin duped.
Buy th Brainlove 7" singles instead. At least the guy ploughs the finance back into records...hopefully?!
i didn't even know who Brainlove was...
Especially seeing as the record labels pay for the cost of the "Free" CD's on magazines.
i wish you could talk.
very sedate track off Go! Plastic
oops. i guess it went over my head back then! slipknot though - :D
You've got to find the 13 mns version of precious little mountain !
the transgressive one?
mystery jets, foals, young knives, polytechnic, mechanical bride, jeremy warmsley, battle, subways
But I did buy this week's one, marking another of those occasions where I find myself occasionally getting one just because of the CD.
And the magazine... ooooooh dear. Now I see what Lily Allen meant. They've discovered 'new rave', 'new wave of new wave', 'new monkey beat' and whatever but now they've discovered... for the first time ... 'women'. And do they ever want to be patronising about it.
(OK, I made 'new monkey beat' up)
they're running a section on New Monkey Beat in the next issue.
Last weeks CD with this weeks, it's a bit embarrasing, Transgressive one is quite impressive. Reckon alot of people are getting it for the Foals track.
cover of 'Kids In America' is.. interesting. Never seen them performing it live. I think they should.
