Why does it have the beginning of Kool Thang at the end fading out for a few seconds? It really bugs me...
I think 'Cross the Breeze is my favourite track by the Youth.
as well, although i can still happily listen to silver rocket for hours on end, just for the build up in the middle.
they did it to piss you off
It was stupid of me to think in the Music forum I'd get a slightly higher standard of reply...
I've got over 20,000 posts, you know? I don't deserve this sort of treatment!
That's just a clever way to deal with that on video.
(And yes I knew this because like you I have the Corporate Ghost DVD, though mine's better than yours as it's Region 1, meaning NTSC, meaning not pitch shifted.)
Why doesn't it just flow nicely into it, then?
I got it from Canadians http://www.dvdsoon.com as after conversion it was only about £6 or something.
They normally deliver within a week too. Still, CHRISTMAS and your BIRTHDAY are coming aren't they?
Plus little bits between them and commentaries if you want. One of the commentaries by Jason Lee on 100%.
How can it NOT BE GOOD?
It even includes that Carpenters cover video. But the Diamond Sea video is the very short 5 min-ish version, I'm afraid.
it's basically every video they did from Goo up until Murray Street.
It says something like "Sonic Youth's non-Coporate Swim period will be available soon" or something.
hmm, but how much pre-Goo material actually is there?
i remember seeing a video for Silver Rocket, and I know there's one for Death Valley '69, but apart from that..
besides, since Geffen own everything of theirs now anyway, you'd think it wouldn't matter. pffft.
Maybe they would combine it with some gig footage or something?
for the best price.
have a comentary by Kathlen Hannah (sp?) actually work. Also all those goo videos are so rubbish.
that cost $100 each?
I'd disagree about the Goo ones. They're not massively polished but I love that you have the entire album there in visual form.
There's a little insert after Dirty Boots I remember (if you have the commentary on) where they show the band sitting on a sofa and Steve says something like "I have NEVER thrown my drumsticks into the crowd." :D
will play on 99% of European DVD players...
I had a feeling the Region 1 is Region 1. I'll have a look.
one of their albums (Washing Machine?) has an unlisted track that's the outro of a different song.
ie, because they're Sonic Youth and they can.
sonic youth ATP 2001 it will be the worst thing ever, seriously.
it just I loved sonic youth so much I had all the SYR records and was looking forward to it so much because I hadnt seen them before and I was bitterly bitterly disapointed, I just think atp gives them free reign to be their worst on the plus side I saw them once at shepards bush and it was the best thing ever so hopefully they will play like that.
Are you talking about 2000, when Mogwai also curated? SY were really awful, and like you it was my first time of seeing them. They played for ages and it was bollocks. But that Shepards Bush Empire show totally slayed
I wasnt even expecting a straight set but it was terrible worse than the goodbye 20th century at the RFH, I remember there was an angry mob that wanted to find their chalet and burn it to the ground.
or ATP 2000. WOW, Kim Gordon playing trumpet!! A couple of months later they made it up though by playing a greatest hits type set
Ok, ignore my post above. We are talking about the same thing...
