as in jaques brel or serge gainsbourg.
even compilation advice would be good.
Tropicalia comp by Soul Jazz is really really REALLY good.
Sounds an awful lot like Bjork's Vespertine but seeing as how they were both released in the same year I'm not sure which one came first. Production was by Mum I think.
I have lots of her stuff - it's great
but ACO is quality.
I assumed a typing error
Whatever, have a listen to Haco - she is very good indeed and will appeal to Bjork fans.
yes it is.
say "foreign" do you actually just mean "French"
Super Furry Animals have an album all sung in Welsh which is arguably their best work.
Dominique A - Tout sera comme avant
Einstürzende Neubauten - Perpetuum Mobile (for a start)
Taxi Girl - seppuku
Marc Seberg - lumière et trahison
Autour de Lucie - immobile.
Kent had some amazing songs in swedish.
Speaker Bites Me had great songs in danish.
and überfantastisch !
but they are Dutch and brilliant.
My favourite might be John Wayne Shot Me !
sian supa crew album - tis very good.
Or Juana Molina
Grabba Grabba Tape!
And loads more.
But they're all foriegn and awesome.
Sebastian Tellier...2 LPs going i think.
But Kent are better in swedish !
Are you from the 1950s?
I'd try some Wagner, maybe some Chuck Berry, Charlie Parker or...um...U2...
Have you only been listening to English musicians up until now? How on earth did you manage that?
And Jean Claude Vannier - L'Enfant Assassin
Early Julien Clerc
Also for more poppy stuff:
Early Jacques Dutronc, France Gall, Brigitte Bardot etc
But do listen to me...
By foreign what do you mean?
I recommend the Figurines to everyone, either their first album Shake a Mountain or the second Skeleton. However they are from Denmark and sing in English, so it might not be what you're looking for.
do you wanna go?
Chekc out Historie De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg. Tres sexy. Oui.
