A weekend in the city
Before this thread gets considered for deletion, its NOT about downloading or where to download the said album...
T'other thread appears to have set sail for the land of 'The illegal downloading question' permanently and, well I'd like to know what people actually think of the new album...
I've only got three tracks (Song for clay, the prayer and waiting for the 7:18) and, so far, I like it. So far I think that it has a bigger, warmer feel than Silent alarm, which was hindered by the fact that I thought that it had a lot of filler. The same could be said about this, but I don't have the album yet so I can't comment...
The Prayer is an inspired choice for the first single... Song for clay is a good opener & 7:18 has been growing on me since i heard the live version earlier this year.
I don't intend to download any more of it because I do want to wait for the release.
The one criticism I have so far and from reading descriptions of the rest of the songs is that it seems very Londoncentric. (A weekend in the city?, NO KIDDING!?! comes the reply) because 2 of the three I have reference London and I hear more do too. However, the themes are universal, and i suppose that you have to have London as a reference pont to anchor the lyrics to somewhere, it could just as easily be Birmingham, Manchester, paris, new York, and so on. In summary, so far, so good.
