Just saw this bloke supporting Mercury Rev (who were as mindblowing as ever), and I rather enjoyed him.
He was like, well, a sort of posh Devendra Banhart (no, really).
He had one incredibly sad sad song about "Kosovo in 1999". When he was playing it I thought 'he knows what he's on about here'. And indeed he does- he was part of the NATO peacekeeping force there at the time. Seemed pretty critical of them, mind. Apparently, he guarded the Queen Mum's body too.
He's got an album out. I rather fear it'll be ruined by commercial production and uncessary backing instruments, but I may investigate it. anyone heard it? or heard him?
