please be a good album
please be a good album
dinner and going for drinks first.
i thought this had leaked? i can't actually be one of the first people to have a copy?!?
for the real copy. i want to feel it in my hands, caress it, buy it dinner.
chest will you do all that for me?
right now i only care about the dinner though to be honest
i'm having pizza a la frozen
you can't stick yr willy in a download
has no art. considering the cover...maybe thats a good thing....
i'll say i'm scared. scared they might be losing inspiration. one song was originally released in 2000, one is a cover...the 9 measly new songs better be darn good
'like the shit bits off worlds apart'.
a punk rock supertramp, right now it's quite annying, too many guest players, over-produced with not that great songs in places, I'd hionestly like to ask them what the fuck they have been up to as this ain't six months' worth of work really. If this is their last album then fine, whatever, no big deal, but if they keep going then I'm sure this'll be just a blip on a great career so far, and I hope it's the latter.
Tellingly they aren't doing many/any songs from it on their coheadlining blood brothers tour, which is a shame as I was hoping that the new songs would work better live when stripped of their head up ass phil collins production...
no shit bits on Worlds Apart.
I only listened the whole thing for old times sake, I was pretty bored after the first couple. Avoid it - it's blowful.
okay i'll listen to this track...
they change some of the melodies, its not too lo-fi, not deep enough vocals in the chorus bit...overall a bit underwhelming, very very very very crap compared to the original...the string section is BAD. sounds like the boring stuff on the last few mercury rev albums. BAD TRAIL OF DEAD. BAD! DON'T FUCK WITH THE GEEBS!
does the first proper song sound like lost prophets :'-(
i'm not reading this thread anymore
i can't believe it. in neil young terms (which are the terms we should always use) it's their Landing On Water.
last track = good.
rest = below anything off any other album. aka WACK.
that its an attempt to get dropped by the major they so foolishly signed with. i hope this is true.
and it's fairly average. And if you/we were hoping for a hard rockin' return to form - if this track is any indication - it ain't happening here. It's not bad, per se, but it sounds like a punk band trying to show the pop artists up at their own game and the result is a by-the-numbers toss-off. The staccato drumming soon becomes annoying, the shakey foundation dooming the song from the start. The over production is like putting cologne on a homeless man. It wouldn't surprise me to see Sophie B Hawkins credited with the song's inspiration. "Damn! I wish this was Madonna...not that Madonna." Here is a band making music outside their element. An embarrassing disappointment. (single) 4.5/10.
And I'm a MASSIVE fan of the rest of the albums and EPs. So I was prepared to give this a lot more chance.
After a lot of listens, the tracks I thought "Yeah this will grown on me, sounds alright" I just ended up not liking at all like, "Wasted State of Mind". But then others I just thought "Meh" straight away at, like "Witches Web" are some of the best ones. Witches Web is really really good too. And Sunken Dreams.
is 6 year old. plus one song is an intro. that makes 8 new songs. not many of which are worth the effort. this makes me sad.
the first proper track, it's awful.
I'll like it, cause I still quite liked Worlds Apart, there's not a BAD track on it, not at all.
They're never going back to what they were like with Source Tags, so leik, get over it?
I really like this band, but the first track from it is really really awful. I'm quite scared now...
worlds apart was 200 times better than this album.
have to say there are a couple of more interesting tracks towards the end, Life for example has a few good things going on.
(whome I both trust)
have said that... I'm a bit scared and anxious.
hmm Eight Day Hell is supertrampish in a good way, almost XTCish. the new version of witches web sucks compared to the original though. majorly.
What the hell have they been playing at, then??
At worst I thought it was going to be Worlds Apart mk.II but now, I dunno what to expect :(
disjointed, general badness.
turns out track 10 is a seque.
that means you actually get 7 new songs. hard workers these chaps.
goldheart mountaintop queen directory, from 1994's bee thousand (perhaps my favourite album of all time)
with no real songness.
sunken dreams is indeed good, as jolley said, but the entire vocal melody sounds like its been ripped off wholesale from The Cure's 'Burn' (or another cure song i forget which one)
Fair enough. Are they fairly long tracks though?
forgive 7 6/7 minute songs.
the 2 segue's, the cover and the rerecording you get 35:47 of new TOD.
Well, has has been only a year.
Okay nearly two.
I've been holding out hope for this album that has been dashed on the rocks of this thread. Sigh.
if its a good 35 mins.
not bad, it's not great. it's certainly not a patch on source tags or madonna. it suffers from the same problems as W.A as that the middle tracks are pretty wank. The last track, the only one with Jason vocals, is utterly lovely.
Still, let's go see them live and fingers fucking cross for Perfect Teenhood? Fuck You!
really, really depressingly average which isn't something I ever expected to say about that band. It's not even utterly hateful like Worlds Apart, just mediocre.
