Sonic Youth: Goo
Cocteau Twins: Treasure
£10 from Fopp.
by Saturday Looks Good To Me
£10 from HMV.
The song Alcohol = amazing.
+ Idiot Pilot album
£4 EACH. YES.
I need me the Idiot Pilot album, it's annoying me that I still haven't bought it.
on berwick st. might've been the only copy though...
i saw idiot pilot live and was nearly bored to death by the similarity between each song.
luckily i was kept moderately excited by the great stage show/prescence. but seriously, their songs are ALL the same. electrnic beat, guitar, main guy singing wierd thenit builds up and the guitar man starts doing distorted screams...mad climax...end.
8 from blah dvd
Still hasnt arrived yet though
You'll like it when it does..
by Subtle on brand-spanking new vinyl.
and This Is Hardcore for £2 from Shelter.
ordered 50 Minutes on the basis of Thommo's review.
because Sennen made me
Dear You by Jawbreaker, which arrived today. I'm listening to it now, it's very good.
Glasgow Mega-Snake is a very special song indeed.
A very under-rated record.
the new Sparklehorse album.
explosions in the sky
tv on the radio
from HMV. it was an expensive day.
because I got an email about it. Then I saw the review on DiS. Spooky.
And from Fopp's website I ordered the "Herculean" single, "Around the Fur" by Deftones, "Fun House" by the Stooges, "Tasty" by Kelis and a deluxe reissue of "The Internationale" by Billy Bragg, because my dad used to have it on tape and I loved it. And it's got a DVD of Billy performing in the Eastern Bloc in the late 80s. Right on.
Neu! - Neu!
Billy Bragg - Must I Paint You A Picture? (Best of)
Nuggets - the short, 1 disc version, 'cause it was a fiver in Fopp
Next purchase will be The Long Blondes- 9/10 in NME, dontchaknow! I like them very much.
on first listen its well good and I wish i had been able to see them last night.
I mean the Neu! album with the black cover (sides 1 and 2). I'll buy the one with the white cover next week, and the new Joanna Newsom album too, probably.
that the album I bought was actually their last proper album, Neu! '75, and the one I'm going to buy next week is their first.
Considering that all their albums say pretty much nothing except NEU! on the covers/spines, I think I can excuse myself this ignorance.
I ordered that stuff from Fopp yesrday afternoon and it turned up in the post this morning. Now THAT'S service.

Last week for a fiver in HMV.
Wire - Chairs Missing
XTC - Skylarking
XTC - English Settlement
Brian Eno - Another Green World
Why is it that I only seem to buy 'old' records as opposed to current releases? Perhaps because these are well established records recognised works of goodness that have somewhat stood the test of time? Probably. Anyone else do this? Anyone else got 'old' records they think are essential that I should buy?
New Rhodes-Songs From The Lodge
I bought "The Who Live at Leeds" the other day as well.
"Perhaps because these are well established records recognised works of goodness that have somewhat stood the test of time?"
That, and the fact that they're usually cheaper than current releases. HMV/Virgin sales are always a good time to stock up on the old stuff.
Mainly because they're cheaper, widely available second hand and you can often be quite sure that its going to be good.
from hmv, surprisingly cheap considering they are bastards from the deepest holes of hell when it comes to pricing cd's i want.

is the £6 one in Fopp? Fantastic value.
I had to see what all the fuss was about. So far, I like it, but reckon it'll take a few listens before it gets immersed properly. It seems deceptively minimal...and I can imagine it being AMAZING on headphones. This theory will be tested tomorrow on my way to college.
that's about it.
Ys on Monday. Sooooooo excited.
Tago Mago, £5.99, second hand from Volcanic Tongue!

The Evens: Get Evens (£7)

Heaven Or Las Vegas. £5
...the 2 CD Girls Aloud Best Of, the new Wolf Eyes album and the Longcut's album.
I got a load of grief from my mates for one of these purchases (and it wasn't the Longcut or Wolf Eyes).
