records of the last 5 or so years? i wanna get my crunk on.
'r n b ish hip hop'??!! there is none to recommend from the last five years, it is all FUCKING AWFUL AND MAKES ME WANT TO KICK MY OWN FACE IN.
Nelly, Usher, Timberlake, Shite, Shite, Shite.
you want good hip hop get dangerdoom/ mf doom / viktor vaughan (all the same person), roots manuva, dizzee rascal etc etc.
relies on chipmunk style samples too much.
and you recommend DangerDoom?
If I was feeling impolite, I'd take one look at your spit-flecked attack on R&B and call you a blinkered, backpacking snob.
but I thought Lord Willin' by Clipse had some great moments but was a bit patchy.
and Pusha from Clipse's guest rap on JT's "Like I Love You" is part of what makes it great. He's on "Good Stuff" by Kelis as well, I think.
you don't know shit. mf dooms ryhmes and flow are the best around at the moment.
kanye west is wack. simple as that.
it's like someone asking for indie recommendations and you replying razorlight. get some imagination you prick.
You routinely bash anything thought of as 'commercial', regardless of quality. I'm just pointing it out - I don't have a problem with it, though you obviously do.
And if you learned how to read and reply to posts, you'd notice that I didn't recommend Kanye West, though I do like him - I was merely remarking on what seemed like a contradiction in your argument.
And as for "it's like someone asking for indie recommendations and you replying razorlight" - if that's what I thought they'd like, I'd recommend it. Whereas your less-than-helpful approach would be "Indie music is all FUCKING AWFUL AND MAKES ME WANT TO KICK MY OWN FACE IN" and then recommending some obscure band so you could feel good about your own tastes.
I'm amazed that I'm rising to this, actually. Are you really 26?
so i have a bee in my bonnet about rnb. it irritates me deeply, so perhaps i should refrain from commenting on such threads in future. although isn't debate and disagreement what makes these threads interesting?
yes i am 26. and i am no more of a snob than most people on here.
Let's shake hands and make up. I don't expect everyone to like R&B, it just annoys me when it gets routinely cussed. And like I said, I can live with people being snobbish. I do it too, sometimes, it's easy to fall into.
Wish I'd kept quiet now. Hope you too fellas have made up
Kanye West is "wack" - LOL
Warren G and Nate Dog - Regulate still the best
You're quite frankly speaking out of your arse.
"MF doom's rhymes and flow are the best around at the moment" is simply not true. I love MF doom but there are tonnes of better MCs. His style is what makes him.
Someone's a prick for, despite what you say, having more open-mindedness? I think insulting people for absolutely no reason is pathetic, especially for a 26 year old and qualifys for being an actual prick.
"Slow Jamz" by Kanye and Twista
"One Thing" by Amerie
"Milkshake" by Kelis
"Yeah" by Usher
all spring to mind
I got a bit obsessed by that song when it came out, to the extent that I would play it to people and be puzzled when they didn't love it.
by Dr Dre - it's like the best album ever
I was recently subjected to his collaboration with Kenny Rogers, and it's an experience I'm keen to forget.
See, you got me.
"For the last year there's been a lot of music comin out
the shit been weak, knowhatI'msayin?
A lot of niggaz trying to take hip-hop
and make that shit R&B, rap and bullshit yaknowhatI'msayin?"
Is a cracking album. Aaliyah, however, can do one. In my opinion, obviously...
Roots Manuva, although his less hip-hop-ey stuff which usually comes out as b/sides and alternatives are my fav.
I do love Kelis and Kanye West lots though.
The secret track 'Late' on Kanye West's Late Registration and Milkshake by Kelis are in my favourite tracks of all time list.
Kanye West- The College Drop Out
MF DOOM- MM FOOD
Cody Chestnutt- The Headphone MAsterpiece (apologies if i've got the title wrong)
David Holmes presents the Free Association- self titled and Come Get It I got It
D'Angelo Brown Sugar
NERD- In Search Of...
I used to love that album, then someone borrowed it and never gave it back. Might have to buy it again.
have a killer track out, dunno what its called though.
cept for that, i dunno
because everything i hear by them i think is good... probably the best pop of the year
