...but please recommend me something to listen to?
Pref. something a bit heartbreaking.
she sounds like Nico, but medieval.
she plays a non-atp gig when she comes over here.
I kind of regret not getting an ATP ticket now. :(
Even if a spare came along.
and if so, did you like any of it?
Good suggestion. In The Cold Light Of Morning or whatever it's called is BRILL.
Also: Tindersticks Tindersticks Tindersticks. Do it.
plus he's like 24, which is fucking terrifying when you consider how good he is.
old Mew tracks
Year Of No Light
Tim Hecker's new album is good.
'Harmony in Ultraviolet'
Really gorgeous MBV-infused electronic ambience. Although it's better for late night listening
Also (On Kranky Records too) Benoît Pioulard - Précis, which kind of reminds me of Grizzly Bear in the way it mixes with ambience and melody in a vaguely folky way and stuff.
The White Magic album is good too, which is kind of mystical sounding folky, mostly piano based stuff.
They're probably rubbish descriptions, but I recommend those!
I love her voice, it's really enchanting.
I will try doubly hard this evening.
I do like that White Magic album and your description is good.
Yes! I really love his album right now.
I made a thread about him, but no one replied :(
Anyway, I've said it before, but...
David Thomas Broughton!
Especially if you're looking for heartbreaking stuff. He's just amazing.
Oh, and Panda Bear
Benoît Pioulard's album didn't he?
I think I've heard him.
These are all lovely suggestions :)
Seems like a weird link...
I didn't know that either!
Pierre Guimard in fact.
Infact, have the link again...
My typing's been dreadful today.
their EP was one of my favourite records of 2004. I actually put Keeping the Wolves from the Door by them on the mix I made for Fiona last time she asked for music like this.
I really like The Light from the new album (it's on their MySpace but I'm not sure about Katie Cruel yet).
then how about mi and l'au? very beautiful in a bleak and depressing way.
then there's diane cluck. reminds me of a grown up emmy the great. that's a rubbish description but still...
and i'm really liking red sparowes at the moment as well.
Faunts - High Expectations, Low Results
Its out on Friendly Fire (same label as the rather ace Asobi Seksu). Really diverse album, but on the whole pretty melancholy with touches of big shoegazey sound.
Check out Bodies & Minds, sucha great record.
album is great.
good too. Or you could cheer yourself up and burn some Coldplay albums.
Doctor Coca Cola McDonalads - Doctor Coca Cola McDonalds Sells Out
