Played Cargo in London last night and it was splendid.
I see them tonight
Although they have a wealth of ideas, all the dressing up and puny projector work in the world can't disguise a weak singer and that all their songs follow the same 'slow/slow/thrash out/finish' structure, which gets a bit tired after the first three or four repetitions. I much prefer them on record.
I thought that The Strange Death Of Liberal England, who inhabit similar territory, were much better on the night.
thats EXACTLY why I wasn't impressed with them live...especially as the thrashy bits, in terms of bpm are the same tempo as the quiet bits...there is nothing genuinely fast, its all sort of mid tempo plodding.
I am greatful to them for giving me two copies of their demo though. That kept me in weed, hats, moustache wax and 60s 45s for that week
i've always really enjoyed this band in the past, but last night i found myself getting bored.. the songs started sounding pretty samey and his voice started to get on my nerves... very much a one trick pony - a good trick, but quite a dull one after a while..
also, get a new sound man! its all drums and bass when it should be all about the guitars! ... didnt help matters, that..
guitarist (who was standing on the left of stage) is feckin great to watch though! and stainless steal still sounds awesome.
I couldn't go.
I like this new me.
when they played in Paris last week !
I was sad !
was one of my favourite !
