Non-sad songs that are so good you almost want to cry
Common People
It is impossible to overplay it
From about that point about 1 and a half minutes in I get shivers and always want to shout "FUCK YESSSS" at the top of my voice and dance and sex and cry and would happily die right then
The Byrds
Turn! Turn! Turn!
Find the River...
...although that's possibly about dying, which is sad. Sorry.
Lipgloss and Babies do it for me much more than Common People
and most of the Talking Heads back catalogue
and also (and most especially) Orange Skies by Love
the bit where Jarv goes
"I went with her cause she looked like you, my god!" makes me BURST
that's the bit
euphoric
i am praying
he will do some pulp at the koko show. praying nightly.
I'm hoping to see him in Paris
on the 12th of November
oh yes
oh yes oh yes.
ohhhh yes.
everything by the Exploding Hearts
because it's all pop genius and then i remember that they're dead :(
^ Yes.
Especially Rumours in Town. ESPECIALLY the last minute of it.
and You Made Me Realise by MBV.
Pagan Poetry
by Bjork. It's like someone who's finally found their true meaning in life.
Range Life by Pavement
and i second Pagan Poetry and Sleep The Clock Around.
Also Piazza, New York Catcher by Belle and Sebastian
I love Range Life and Piazza, New York Catcher
Good work.
yeah definitely Range Life
it shouldn't be sad at all, but it gets me, especially the "don't worry, we're in no hurry, school's out, what did you expect" bit for some reason. The thing with Pavement was that despite all their lyrical cleverness and irony they had an ability to pull some really wrenching passages out from seemingly nothing.
I'll add that too.
I love Range Life, it's always been one of those "I'm tired of this, I'm going to live the simple life" type songs, a bit like no surprises- the mood is just utterly perfect.

Bob Dylan - Tombstone Blues
oooh good choice
I love that guitar bit that follows each time he says 'I'm in the kitchen with the tombstone blues'
I just got goosebumps thinking about it
:)
yes yes
seconded on Babies.
Also, Bonnie Prince Billy's 'Nomadic Revelry' when all the harmonies come in at the end.
And the chorus of 'Insistor' by Tapes n Tapes.
Aktuelly I'll add another one
based on Bonnie Prince Billy: I See A Darkness the first time he sings 'do you know how much I love you?'
Liek, woah.
erm
Lazy Line Painter Jane - Belle and Sebastian
Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In - 5th Dimension
Somersault - Zero 7
Ice Hockey Hair - Super Furry Animals
at the moment
nashville parthenon - casiotone
count souveniers - junior boys
peacock tail - Boards of Canada
Satellite Anthem Icarus - Boards of Canada
Bumblechord - Nathan Fake
Way Out - Ellen Allien & Apparat
the delgados
ballad of accounting / pull the wires from the wall.
and islands- volcanoes
unicorns - tuff luff
ooh
and Islands - Rough Gem
Most Doves songs get to me
But that's probably just me.
Especially "Pounding", it makes my heart jump in all sorts of places...
It's not just you
Snowden does that for me. And also NY.
