considering i like their stop-start cover of Buddy Holly and know nothing else from then.
but that's just me...
get The Vertigo Of Bliss
i'm not really a fan, but my wee brother is and he says it's their best effort
is quite different to the other two, in that it's more emo, but there are some fanatastic songs (57, JDI, Stress On The Sky). Vertigo of Bliss is a good start, yeah, it's got enough good songs resting between the bouts of experimental stuff (and it has Eradicate The Doubt, which has such a brilliant outro).
Infinity Land saw them really get weird, I think, and some of it is great (Jaggy Snake and Wave Upon Wave), but it's all too much at first. So it's good, but it's not a recommended place to start.
Vertigo of Bliss is my favourite of theirs. But if you like what you hear, you won't go wrong with any of their stuff, they're pretty consistent
Blackened Sky - Is just pretty straight forward rock songs with a slight twist. Very very good, probably the "Moodiest" album.
Vertigo Of Bliss - Completely different, some quite mental songs, some quite sad slow ones. Some of the songs sound like 10 songs rolled into one. It's ace, hard to describe.
Infinity Land - This is the easiest one to get into I think, but probably their worst. It's more "Pop" but still very good.
I'm shit at describing things, they are ace though.
If you just want some more songs as tasters, check out Bodies in Flight, Toys Toys, Toys, Choke Toys, Toys, Toys, Justboy, The Ideal Height, There's No Such Thing As a Jaggy Snake, Glitter and Trauma, Liberate the Illiterate, Stress on the Sky... Convex, Concave... actually... just buy all the albums.
putting your wallet back in your pocket and going home for a nice sit down.
just buy them all.
buy some taste in music for John_Brainlove :-P
But it'll make a good christmas gift for Alcxxk
Start with the track "A Day Of..."
Which I am realiably informed should actually be "A Day of Drugs And Religion"
It's a tune non-the-less
what do you know about biffy clyro? the person says they like one of their tracks. unless you know that track to be a one off good track of theirs (it isnt), or can suggest a similar but better band (you cant) why bother just insulting people's music taste?
He likes Biffy Clyro, I don't, it's a music forum where saying either of those things is fine. My comment was not an insult of someone's music taste, but me expressing that I don't advise buying a Biffy Clyro album, in the form of a joke.
Get out of my face please.
but i think we're both to old to really get them.
i dont know anyone my age or older who likes them.
blackened sky is the one i come closest to liking though, so probably that.
you do now.
which album do you recommend?
not a year old. uyrgh, im tired.
Once you've heard that, there a few tunes on Infinity Land which sound like rehashes with added experimentation. Blackened Sky, as seems to be the consensus, has some great moments but is probably the source of a lot of the emo association that doesn't really fit with Biffy as a whole.
Vertigo Of Bliss is just a really well composed album, it doesn't dip in quality or try to be wilfully obscure, the music flows in a very natural way.
its not your fault that you misread the title as "what do you think of biffy clyro"
I repeat: get out of my face please.
It's a thread about Biffy Clyro.
So what, anyne who doesn't have a sweet little list featuring their three albums in a slightly different order can't say a thing for fear of moving off the prescribed path of the thread?
pffft. bugger off. I'll say what I like, when I like, thank you very much.
and go have a go at that moron who dissed the Crappucino video!!
One big 'multiplol' at you there, pal.
And buy Infinity Land.
I started with Infinity Land last year and was all I played for 6 months. Havent bought anything else by them and sounds like I did the right thing. They're due for a new release though yes?
you should definitely own 'Vertigo...', but it's just not as good as Infinity Land.
That's a very bad thing to do. Infinity Land is probably the worst, even if it is still very good.
then infinity land
but the first album is a dreadful pile of whinging nonsense.
my personal favourite is infinity land.
For me it's the best way. I heard BS first but bought VOB first coz that's all the shop had in.
The albums are all written and released within about a year or two of each other so you can't really go wrong with any of em.
Except IL, my least fave biffy album
in reverse order. All of the albums are excellent. Buy them ALL.
quite proud that they're one of the bands I was in at ground level with, well, with the 27 single anyway, I didn't hear thekidswhopoptoday... until after Blackened Sky came out.
Anyway, Vertigo is best, I didn't like Infinity for a long time after it came out, I've come round now but it really disappointed me. That choral effort before Jaggy Snake is just shit. But Some Kind Of Wizard and Ribcage are two of their best songs so it balances out.
