is a really good album isn't it?
I Heart Radiohead
Kid A is far more written
i wrote a reply and clicked abandon by mistake. my point was basically they had a collection that included some gems and some tunes that kinda worked and put it together in two weeks. thats not a bad thing, but they didn't push many of the songs to the normal stage of completion, and considering poly-ethelene didn't make a studio album...
I think it's their second worst album, with only Pablo Honey being less good. It's still got a couple of good tracks on it though.
To be a good Radiohead album. It just never grabs me, there's no flow- Kid A, OK Computer and The Bends are all complete pieces of work, they all feel completely organic. HTTT has some great songs, but no way does it match up to those albums.
and worked on the tracklisting, itd be one of my favourite records ever.
2+2=5, the "raindrops" one, mymimatosis, there there are all utterly fantastic tunes
IS an awesome track.
The start of the album is great stuff, but yeah, I think you've hit the nail on the head- there are some tracks that just aren't good enough to be on there.
It is too long and I never really have the desire to listen to it.
I actually prefer Pablo Honey but that's because the really good stuff (You/Creep/Thinking About You/Anyone Can Play Guitar) is so good.
I still don't like Kid A. If only they'd played it live for a bit and then rerecorded it all as a band...but it just feels lifeless and unimaginative in the main, especially after seeing it live.
I love most of the songs on Amnesiac, but like Pablo Honey, the great stuff is offset by some majorly dull duffers.
It contains the only Radiohead song released since about 1996 that I don't actually like ("Punch-up at a Wedding") but other than that it's great. It was definitely my album of the year for 2003.
Talk Show Host
Banan Co. (electric version)
I'm going with Molasses?
"I'm wearing someone else's glasses" to rhyme with molasses? Surely Thom's lowest moment lyrically?
At least as good as OKC techinically, if not contextually.
now i have to admit to having 4 favourites to fit my easily catagorised four different moods, being dumped, being scarred, wondering who we are, or confused
the soundtrackt to modern life.
I left the typo in because it looks radioheady.
but I still love Ok Computer the most.
but i don't think it's anywhere near being one of their best songs.
Where I End And You Begin, on the other hand, IS one of their best songs.
As is 2+2=5, sit down stand up, sail to the moon, go to sleep, myxomatosis, etc...
I get goosebumps just thinking of stuff like WIEAYB and Myxomatosis.
the best radiohead album. I like Ok computer more now than when i got it, but its beaten into 2nd place by this beast.(and lucky is the best song on OKC)
til i saw them live. the kid a tracks are actually by far the best (except karma police...)
but yes. hail to the thief. sexy as.
AND THE RAINDROPS AND THE RAINDROPS...
sounds AMAZING live. Not that i've seen them live, i'm going on I Might Be Wrong.
the Amnesiac version is utterly 'meh'.
but not as good, it's a shame they hid such a good song under so much production and electronic weirdness.
and it's probably my favourite. The first tracks are all amzing and I adore "there there". Then again, i'm not really a huge radiohead-head.
here's the composer of the sample used in idioteque talking about it. http://www.music.princeton.edu/paul/radiohead.ml.html
Although "2+2=5" was the song that made me fall in love with that album. And I know that some peopl will disagree, but "Backdrifts" is a stunning track. Listen to it with headphones and full volume and it is sublime. Until your ears start to hurt.
though I'm hopeless at ranking Radiohead's albums in terms of how good I think they are.
It has some sublime moments on it (2+2=5, Go To Sleep, There There, I Will, Myxomatosis all spring to mind), though it could have done with trimming off The Gloaming and Scatterbrain I think.
when you see them live. all falls into place.
but you can't decide which three. Essentially it doesn't have enough tracks that are truly great on it I reckon.
