Ye Olde Rave (Patrick Wolf)
Patrick Wolf last night in Oxford was at times utterly breathtaking.
Proper words to follow in a review when my head stops spinning from too much Sherry.

i'm seeing him tonight
with some trepidation after March's fiasco.
This emboldens me a little. :)
james sherry?
are you going to marry claire?
i'm seeing him in london on wed..
so glad you've said he was good as i've heard mixed reviews of him live...
what did he play?
was
about one-third/half new stuff (Magic Hours which sounds like a big camp anthem, Accident & Emergency for the encore with a one-off appearance of Ed Larrikin, who was later the source of the Sherry) and then lots from Lycanthophy with Blood Beats and Lighthouse which were gorgeous. He only really played Tristan from Wind in the Wires.
His sister doing backing vocals was utterly angelic.
Ew
Ed Larrikin. I've also heard lots of nasty stuff about his sister. And him as a matter of fact. Still c'est lovely music.
I hope he does Bloodbeat tonight :)
Pray tell
what nasty stuff? They both seem lovely.
Has it sold out then?
I thought there were still tickets left? Alice, you have to go! I can't wait :D It better be ace, and sounds like it may be
Well
last night was better than I expected. Much better.
If anyone was interested I heard a tout selling a ticket for £40. It was £10 face value. I hate touts.
Whoa, that's a ridiculous price
I never saw you last night, but I suppose there was a quite few people there... I was so worried it was going to be rubbish after what some people had said about him before, but I loved it all! And the setlist was pretty fantastic, a good mix of everything :D No Paris or The Libertine though...but other than that, ACE! I <3 him even more now :P
no libertine?
dang. i've been practising my air violin for tommorow.
So,l finally, I get to hear a pretty good quality version of The Stars
Everyone's been talking about it a lot.

Very much doubt this link'll work.

there is a proper mp3
of The Stars on the Patrick Wolf livejournal, ripped off French radio.
It is AMAZING
AMAZING
it's so so so English and Kate Bush-esque and wonderful.
I can't get that link to work :(
send me it, please?
I saw him tonight. It was bloody amazing. He played the childcatcher whih made me go *squee*.
stars was fabulous
i can't help thinking that nothing else new was anywhere near that quality.. Enchanted was sickening.
yes
"I wrote this in Disney Land" *vomit*
I like Open Wide, and The Magic Position and The Blue Bells, and Lets Go Get Lost and Magpie though, so I suppose he's doing quite well.
Disney Land sucks something awful
I felt ill the whole time I was there.
Open Wide was hella pretty. I liked every song he played. I thoguht I'd hate Magpie because the bootleg I have is rubbish, but it sounds like he improved upon it a lot since then.
Do you think he'll do a second tour, or something? I am quite curious to the reason why there's such a long space of time between the first single and the album... It's not usually that long, is it?
NO WAI
the old version of Magpie is ace and the new version is awful.
violins
are so good.
patrick
was amazing last night. he got two encores and 'was having the most fun night ever' (in camp voice)
was so pleased after hearing mixed live reviews, but on the night he sung incredibly was energetic the whole time and totally compelling...
