I am excited.
And does anyone know whether it is true that he will be playing Heartbreaker?
he would probably do, but he also said he might change his mind and do tons of new songs. you can never really tell with him.
but there is a general feelign on the .org that he was messing about - but who knows.
either way just saw this posted which is handy to everyone going tonight
'Just spoken to Bush Hall aparently Ryan will be on at 8:30 and there is no support. '
So sounds like it'll be pretty much the same deal as the acoustic shows earlier in the year as far as length of show goes.
whether the whole of Heartbreaker will be bearable - I will be a sobbing mess. Esp if he plays Come Pick Me Up....
he'll play 29 tonight and heartbreaker tomorrow.
last night he played a set that mainly consisted of grateful dead covers.
i'm going to kill myself by the end of tomorrow night if all this is true. what's the point? it's never going to get any better than this!
where did you hear that? he definitely said heartbreaker tonight and 29 tomorrow on the .org
hopefully lost highway are lying as much about this as they do about everything else they say, i want heartbreaker!
you got tickets for both then?
he didn't play any dead covers last night from what i can tell?
no dead covers ???
he'd probably go and announce a one-off whiskeytown show for thursday night or something. DAMN YOU, ADAMS!
he has allegedly retired Come Pick Me Up
he played it about a month ago. when did you hear this?
when he retired it.
It said so on the .org
must have missed that.
this is the .org
Lotta crap gets spoken. I mean. Where are the three Ryan albums this year we were 'promised'?
was some kinda onstage rant about lost highway.
i never believed it anyway...
Ryan has temporarily shelved it.
HOW THE FUCK HAVE I NOT GOT ANY TICKETS. I like Ryan Adams as much as any of you.
I have ALL the stuff.
I live 130 Miles away.
lameness. you should try to blag a shepherds bush one from ebay, they're going for about £35 each if you're lucky.
with 5 hours still to go.
heartbreaker.... and Come Pick Me Up. I'm not going any more!
adams talks rubbish on stage, so he might have been joking about.
About tonight from Ryan on the .org
'special guest set.
fisrt set. Jolie Holland
then Neal Casal.
then moi. prepare for the slow jams.
i am playing new stuff. new stuff. new stuff. not old stuff. new stuff.
so i hope people come with new ears to hear new stuff.
it seems like the time.
so no heartbreaker
Bush Hall tickets are still available from seetickets.com
if doors are at 7pm and he's on at 8:30pm.
neal casal is playing his solo material as well as with the cardinals on all the european dates.
i'm getting completely different words from Mercury/Lost Highway.
ryan kinda does what he wants though. including recording and promo.
from le .org
'i am writing the set list now.
some you have heard, "everything dies" etc.
but alot you have not, at least not in the way i got it worked.
on a side note, it was fun as hell playing the drums for jolie yesterday and i thought she was a smashing guest cardinal with us last nite too.
'see you tonight.
i am walking there so if you are going and are in the know lemme get some air and just hang. it takes alot of normal for me and some space to get into my zone. way better than what i was doing before.
Amazing gig and i second the bit about the Cards - they were sounding slick as you like and sounding stunning
beautiful. in places some of the best live music i've ever seen. me and guntrip were respectively about a metre and 2 metres away (guess who was closest) and dan even got to speak to him. very nice. no barrier so it was super intimate, in one song he walked thru crowd to a piano in the middle of the hall and played a song on it. great setlist too, lots of newish stuff with a few old ones:
Don't Get Sentimental On Me
Oh My God Whatever Etc.
Elizabeth You Were Born To Play That Part
Sweet Lil Gal
My Winding Wheel
Tears Of Gold (new song)
Old Country Cover Song
A Kiss Before I Go
train back was as fun as expected but totally worth it. very jealous of everyone going tonight. also very nice to finally meet a fellow disser in the flesh!
and you didn't even miss much by having to run off early.
anyway: elizabeth was probably my highlight. i loves that song.
we just went to the back and split as soon as cold roses finished. still mixed the 11:45 train and had to get the 12:05 but wasn't too bad.
i should never just cut and paste setlists, because i now realise that they forgot the Arkham Asylum song and that old country cover song was clearly A Kiss Before I Go. the fools.
i dunno what the Arkham Asylum song was, a new one i would guess as it's not on answeringbell...
i think i was the only one there.
that Batman totally IS a ninja.
but i did say that batman was a ninja when he was talking him. because HE IS!
when he was talking about someone that was a bad man and a vigilante in a bad world.
which you followed with
...like a ninja.
fast thinking there.
i dont think ryan liked the when you're ready bit. but then it must be frustrating if you're not right up the front cos you don't get to hear some of the genuinely hilarious conversations about batman that they were having off mic.
it must be frustrating not being able to hear.
and stories and silliness are the best thing about him.
I was more frustrated last time I saw him with people hurrying him along, and then it feeling like he was restraining himself.
I can't wait for tonight :)
i'm sure he played very tiny snatches of wonderwall and magnolia mountain and then got shouted at and distracted and played other things. i dont think i'd enjoy the gigs half as much without his 'performance', because he is so genuinely funny. the people shouting things takes away from the intimacy of it and makes it seem like any other gig, but luckily the one last night wasn't too bad shouty wise and so it really felt rather special. again, very very jealous of all going tonight.
good work for someone who was probably one of the ugliest people in the room.
There is nothing else to it. That's it. Simple.
yes i am.
my girlfriend is quite short and had loads of taller people around and so was fanning herself throughout and looking very red, but she still enjoyed it tho so not a problem.
where this unprovoked personal attack has come from, i just hope that you forget to look when crossing the street later.
Don't Get Sentimental On Me
I cried last night.
I'm a cunt.
i prefer Two to those...two.
second time i've heard a lot of those newies and can't wait to hear recorded versions.
i can't remember any of it - was it good then?
i am still drunk.
I met you!! :-)
i think i did - did i?
in the bar smoking?
you were talking about ben kweller a lot, and then asked me who i was. you then disappeared off up uxbridge road shouting "it's guntrip! it's guntrip!". drunk, you say? ;o)
