i've never even heard them, but they sound like they'd be my thing
I got comets on fire. To me it doesent sound like a "wall of noise" as the dis reveiw suggests.
They sound like a little bit better wolfmother : (
The guys voice annoys me.
I dont like how its mixed/produced.
^Listen to Phantom Fireball on there.
All of the other Comets on Fire albums have songs that are ridiculously loud like that one. Plus the vocals on said albums will probably be less annoying as they have loads of echo on them and blend in better. Avatar is a goodun though.
below, they sound nothing like Wolf Mother. Start with Blue Cathedral, then Field Recordings. If you like those, then get the other two. Plus, if you really get into them, hunt down the split LP with Burning Star Core.
is awesome! But yeah Blue Cathedral's the best album, Avatar's the most accesible. But Field Recordings has The Unicorn whihc is genius.
now that I'm slightly drunk. I got it the day before I split up with my gf so it has bad associations. But it sounds fucking awesome right now! S'all about Dogwood Rust, Holy Teeth and Sour Smoke. Dig that Gregorian chanting!
and late at night is probably the best time to listen to it.
it is. It's certainly sounding a million times better than I remembered right now.
Dogwood rust especially.
Its really annoying.
I shouldave downloaded it instead of buying it.
I fail to hear a single shamelessly plagiarised Sabbath riff in the whole of Dogwood Rust! And regardless, Comets shred a million times better than Wolfmother.
but its boring as fuck.
no its not!
Some bits sound like mars volta but without the good beats and general inventivness.
There is not a single interesting riff on that album.
The singer is boring.
the opening riff of Jaybird sounds almost exactly like black dog by led zep.
I just listened to Black Dog to refresh my memory, and I don't think it sounds much like Jaybird at all. Plus, even if it did what would be the problem?
Go and listen to Field Recordings
either Blue Cathedral or AVATAR.
Blue Cathedral then Avatar
Blue Cathedral because you all say its the best
and Avatar because all the reviews i read make it sound fucking amazing
do they tour often? they sound like they'd be mint live
I saw them at a "secret" gig back when Blue Cathedral was released - it was the best gig ever.
the nearest they're playing to me is Nottingham
and even that is a couple of hundred miles
in Glasgow next month. I'd advise you to get your ticket quick wishpig as it's in Mono
perfect listening with a nice glass of malt whisky.
