someone's just put it on at my work.
why hasn't a single review for this album mentioned that?
post as an excuse to say that i'm listening to The Auteurs - New Wave for the first time in a while and its so wonderful its almost enough to cry over. its so fucking perfect and fits the autumny feel of the moment so well. why aren't there any british bands making albums this beautiful and stark and clever and affecting and pissed off and brilliant? makes me sad. i miss pulp and mansun.
thats all for now.
It took me a long time to enjoy that album, but only because I started with Murder Park, which hit me like a brick. Anything after that was a bit of an anticlimax, but now I've come around to its charms, especially American Guitars.
at first its hard to get past the sarcasm and hate, but after a while you just get a feeling from the melodies that its all about love really, to be its a fucked off love album about how shit britain is and how nothing good ever lasts...see Home Again...
in a way the auteurs are kind of the audio equivalent of Mike Leigh's Naked.
i don't remember that, what's it called?
