Look at the really cool blood everywhere and that cool skeleton pic. Dude. Rock on.
GROOOOOOAAR GROAAR GROARRRRRRRR!
well done for being original.
Them bands are a joke.
So unbelievably self-obsessed. At least metal is honest...
but you may find this tshirt amusing.
it's "(the) MELVINS" now. Which is reasonably funny. It should be MELVINNSO))).
Also the front of that tshirt has an entire skeleton on the front so if you were wearing a coat you'd be EXACTLY the same as the metalheads :O
most people who go for the OTT metal "look" are at least aware that they look ridiculous, whereas indie bands doing the whole street urchin chic look just think they're 'cool'.
lots of metal fans revel in the sillyness in a semi-ironic way, whereas too many indie fans are so serious it hurts. which makes me want to hurt their faces.
When there is an Indie Spinal Tap, then this thread will be legitimate.
Until then, THIS will serve as proof that metalheads know what they're doing: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Uf2tO6yOSsE
that is ACE
and the atmosphere was much more intimidating than being in a metal bar
i felt like somebody was going to start a fight with me in the indie place. everyone seemed to have an attitude and an agenda. true to form, someone tried to start a fight with me.
then i go to a metal bar and the focus is on having a good time, getting drunk, laughing and dancing. nowhere in london do i feel safer than in a metal bar. the people are good and true.
quite ironic when you think that people have the impression that metallers are really scary and indie kids are really fey.
the metal demographic (ugh) has changed considerably in the last ten years, yet the public perception and stereotypes of it haven't.
the indie demographic (ugh) has changed considerably since Oasis circa 1994. Now we have a bunch of pissed/coked up Libertines/Kasabian worshipping plebs to deal with, not nice. I haven't been to an 'indie' club for months as a result
what's the difference between a pissed up oasis fan and a pissed up kasabian fan?
i don't know, what is the difference between a pissed up oasis fan and a pissed up kasabian fan?
there isn't a difference. Oasis seem to be responsible for a lot of these laddish bands and their fans, and their attitudes, and their hair
'indie club' you choose to go to though. I haven't heard oasis or kasabian in one for 6 years.
Oasis/Razorlight/Kasabian spawn, not specifically that their songs are played in clubs
in the club. The one i go to most regularly is populated by the type of people that frequent DIS. I can only remember one argument i've had, and i've seen less trouble in there than in most pubs.
it's got good people in it. they aren't strictly indie, or strictly electro or strictly rock though.
crobar is definitely a metal bar
koko is definitely an indie club
i am comfortable with the music in both
i am not comfortable around the people in koko though.
You were DJing in an indie bar and someone tried to start a fight with you.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say you played a song that was a little too 'ironic'.
you'd be unemployed
I'm pretty much a wimpy indie boy, but I reckon Crobar is the friendliest place in London
is UK Garage/Grime.
LOOK AT THEM. They actually dress like clowns. They actually pretend they live in Compton.
and live in Old Compton Street?
