FOWLING SMELLS IN MANCHESTER TONIGHT

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 21 replies 17:47, 14 August '06

I'm now going.

I've never been to the night and day before.

If you are, notice me and say hello. I will be wearing dark sunglasses, a bowler hat and a skirt.

Or maybe some black drainpipes, white converse and a jacket with a white shirt underneath.

It seems like I'm desperate to be talked to from this thread, and, the truth is, I'm just hoping John Brainlove's moved to Manchester and is going, so we can dance together.

  • I'm not going

because you lied to me. :P

    rapscalion-jones | 14 Aug '06, 18:14 | X
    • Aye, it was pretty much decided at about 4

      that I was going.

They're absolutely fantastic. She hits every single note, even the impossible ones in 'The Night is Young', and her banter is most pleasing. The band have an energy onstage that's so good, because their tunes are so good.

Juanita is the most attractive person ever to live, too.

I wonder what my fellow DISSER thought.

  • yeah

manchester does smell. the only good thing about lancashire is the road into yorkshire.

    ¬_¬.

    Heliotrope | 15 Aug '06, 13:36 | X
    • Yorkshire

is pretty much just Leeds, surrounded by a million years of boring country side.

      Lancashire is probably worse though.

      wrightylew @Heliotrope | 15 Aug '06, 13:44 | X
      • yorkshire

is actually probably better than lancashire.

        i think.

i've certainly had more good nights there...

        rapscalion-jones @wrightylew | 15 Aug '06, 13:46 | X
        • I should think so.

Why the fuck would anyone want to go to Lancashire in the first place?

Also, what the hell were you doing in Lancashire? Visiting the 'city' of Blackburn or something?

          wrightylew @rapscalion-jones | 15 Aug '06, 13:49 | X
          • i live here foo'

born and raised in radcliffe, played rugby many times against dear ol' QEGS

but lancashire has nothing except manchester really.

            rapscalion-jones @wrightylew | 15 Aug '06, 13:56 | X
            • QEGS?

im sure we kicked the shit out of them at rugb once.

              Heliotrope @rapscalion-jones | 15 Aug '06, 17:07 | X
              • obviously

                by rugb i meant rugby.

we didnt kick the shit out of them at typing.

                Heliotrope @Heliotrope | 15 Aug '06, 17:12 | X
            • Manchester is on its own.

              In its 'Greater' little county.

              wrightylew @rapscalion-jones | 15 Aug '06, 18:56 | X
  • yorkshire is ace

it'd be LOL if you get IDed by the night and day.

    RockNRollMassacre | 15 Aug '06, 13:54 | X
    • Why?

Is that because you never get ID'd there?

      wrightylew @RockNRollMassacre | 15 Aug '06, 18:56 | X
      • the one time i've been therre

i didn't get IDed. but i was the (rather unsucessful) promoter.

Being Ided is always slightly amusing

        RockNRollMassacre @wrightylew | 15 Aug '06, 19:41 | X
        • Only had it once.

In the academy in Liverpool. I got sent right up though.

          I love Fake Ids.

  • Howling

i work at their record label and they are cracking people and a great band. i went and it was a great night!!

    stan-the-man | 15 Aug '06, 16:50 | X
    • Did you get to play the tambourine?

The bassist has a short temper, eh?

      wrightylew @stan-the-man | 15 Aug '06, 18:57 | X
  • i went to this

but then you know that cos you saw me.

it was great. never really heard howling bells before. top stuff. especially seeing as i won my tickets from the metro so got in free.

the support act were utterly mediocre. if you ever get the chance to see a band called Ryna don't bother.

    restlessboy | 15 Aug '06, 21:42 | X
    • RYNA ARE GREAT

Didnt see them at this gig, but seen em twice before and they're one of the finest bands in Manchester Mr Restlessboy

      mccannalex @restlessboy | 15 Aug '06, 23:23 | X
      • i don't see it

no tunes. no charisma. uniformaly average musicianship. utterly non-engaging. completely forgettable. and I was really listening for a change.

i'd be interested to know what it is about them that you rate.

        restlessboy @mccannalex | 16 Aug '06, 22:12 | X
    • He's right.

They were more average than a potato.

But how fucking hot was it?

My hair went curly, like a Kook or something, it was sooo hot.

      wrightylew @restlessboy | 16 Aug '06, 00:14 | X
      • potatos are above average
