hi I just got a gig in leeds on a sunday just wanted to know what the scene is like in leeds
alot of bands/acts do and people get bored i just wanted to know if people go out on sunday things like that
the scene around here is shit for the most part, with the odd flash of inspiration obviously. just go to leeds and see what happens.
I surmise that, in Leeds, there may exist people who have tastes in music that coincide with the style of music that you play, whatever that might be.
You could ask these people, http://www.gojonnygogogogo.co.uk/, waht teh "scene" is like.
I don't live in Leeds, though.
I've not been on a Sunday but friends have and think it's ok.
the shit indie side, with the pigeon detectives and such
or the good side, with whoresx3, tigers!, concentration champ, that fucking tank, bilge pump, humanfly etc
it's almost entirely dance to the radio innit? Revolves around forward russia, iliketrains and stuff like that.
Just go to the cockpit.
But we have a few good venues (i.e Brudenell Social Club, The Cockpit etc...)
And a few decent artists, the best being this guy - www.myspace.com/davidthomasbroughton - who's unbelievably good.
But I think he lives in Manchester now, maybe?
Better Word Records label!
ive never seen a bad gig there.
i also have enjoyed gigs at josephs well, the packhorse and the cockpit
avoid leeds met and millenium square, they are bollocks soundwise.
almost everyone is shit and the sound wank. I do like playing Brudenell tho
There are many good bands around, just crappy little places to play.
My favourite Leeds band being Immune who are the complete opposite to all the regular indie shit you see coming out of here.
So in conclusion, Leeds "scene" is far too fashionista, but look hard and there are some real gems
that's the downside of being the coolest city in the uk (official).
the cockpit has poor acoustics, only worsened by the blank canvas.
i personally like bands at brudenall and the faversham, if only becuase it has the best bar in the city and the said fashionista types go there and are very often very pretty girls.
