Ryan Adams' best song.
i love it, but i'm not sure it's his best. it's his best in that style, but i don't think style is what he does best..
my winding wheel
excuse me if i break my own heart tonight
la cienega just smiled
please do not let me go
why do they leave?
starting to hurt
ALL BETTER. yep.
Ryan adams is good right ?
I heard so alive then immedietly went out, bought "gold", listened to it and was immensly dissapointed.
Should i get rock n roll or whatever its callled ?
you should shoot yourself instead ;o)
or just go and buy heartbreaker or love is hell.
And back then I thought only red necks or my dad listened to country, so i took it back.
Burning photographs is pretty good aswell.
You should well get RocknRoll. Its like all those songs but more better ones.
Get it, and do not listen to any of this or any other stupid website's views on it. Its a superb record for what it is.
it's, like, a lot better. really. the two unreleased Pinkhearts sessions (some tracks from which turned up on Demolition) piss all over it and really show it up for how lazy it is in places. It's not bad per se, it's just far from his best work and I think it shows how quickly it was written & recorded.
But I'm talking about all the shit it gets.
Its really unnecessary. I think it was one of the records of that year definitely.
It has some really lazy songs like Wish You Were Here, but they're still all really good.
I'd like to tell him.
it goes on a bit, and it's SUCH a blatant dig at winona ryder it's a bit embarassing.
The first Adams' song I fell in love with
is my fav.
towards the end of whiskeytown, there really was no difference though. the first whiskeytown record was the only one that could vaguely be considered a "band" effort, at least in the credited songwriting.
I think Firecracker is his best. Or his cover of Wonderwall, lol.
I don't like it at all.
He sounds like he was reeeeeally trying to make some American classic, but the songs aren't very good and it's deeply, unattractively MOR.
Actually I'm not that fussed, I never get past the first half of Gold myself.
I feel the same. The production is just vomit inducing - i can't listen to it - however the some of the songs are amazing - thank god for The Suicide Handbook - all the goodness - none of the horrible chintz.
is pretty much middle ranking
my fav solo song is Miss Sunflower
and my fav song of all time is Dancing With The Women At The Bar
Gold was a bit MOR when I first heard it but it grew on me a lot. I thing the songwriting is generally very strong.
