I have the Zutons' "Valerie" stuck in my head...

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 18 replies 12:45, 24 July '06

...ever since it was on my radio-alarm when I woke up this morning.

What's more I'm finding it quite a pleasant experience.

Does this make me a bad person?

    • There must be another way.

      Community service?

  • Yes.

    Plain and simple.

I often get that when my alarm radio wakes me up. I had country fucking girl stuck the other day. :(

    • In The Morning

by Razorlight was in my head when I woke up. I turned on the tv and the advert for the album was on....

      GAH!

  • It's an unusual lyric

and, maybe I'm being unfair but I doubt he's really in love with a girl called Valerie. Unless she's much older than him.

I guess you do get people in their 20s and younger with that name but surely not that often?

    • I know a girl called

      Martha.

      I guess that's rare for a 16 year old.

      • I have a friend called martha too.

  • Nah.

Its a good song. Their other one is too.

They've done well. From a terrible first album to a (seemingly) really good second one.

    • I think there are certainly bands more deserving of people's hatred

    • It is difficult to fault as a catchy pop song.

It does sound like they're trying a bit too hard to write a catchy middle-of-the-road pop song for the Radio 2 crowd in a slightly contrived way but you have to give them credit for doing a pretty good job of it.

      • Yeah

they get a lot of shit on DiS but to be fair they write decent mor pop songs

  • The reason I hate that song

...aside from the overwhelming shiteness, is that every time it starts on the radio, I think "WOW! THEY'RE PLAYING WHEN I ARGUE I SEE SHAPES!" Damn the Zutons for stealing Idlewild's intro...

      no.

    • I always think it's going to be Surfing Safari

when I hear the intro, so perhaps they both nicked it.

  • "i miss your ginger hair" that lyric is unique
