Supersonic 2009
Sorry I don't have any concrete news. But apparently the headliner is 'one of the most crushing bands of all time' and 'there's going to be a re-release of most of their records cos they are hard to get nowadays'.

I wonder who it could be. Also I hope they book Corrupted

Godflesh!
I SERIOUSLY hope it's Godflesh.
I still haven't really
listened to them, despite people on here telling me to. But i'm sure that would be cool. As long as they also book Corrrrrupted
That would be incredible
I got El Mundo Frio through this morning. Ace packaging, haven't listened to the album yet though.
thats all i can think of
i'm pretty excited. finally i'll be able to go as the last two years i've had holidays booked at the same time
That would make sense
Broadrick has played a few times before and they're one of the bands in Capsule's Home of Metal project http://www.homeofmetal.com/
I'm tempted by this. Oh yes.
2009 = the year of the festival.
that was 2008 for me
I think this one might be the only one I have time for this year :(
Oh and maybe the Nightmare Befo Xmas if it isn't curated by ELP or someone
when is it?
and how easy is it to find somewhere to stay?
i heard pretty amazing things about last years and i'm gutted i didn't think of going, if i can make it this year i'll definitly try get there.
Booking the Etap hotel last year was easy and pretty cheap.
On top of that good hotel in general and lovely buffet style breakfast. But yeh...great festival and great value.
heh
I don't remember you liking that breakfast, mind is hazy though
that breakfast was well shit!
Maybe we were always too late for all the good stuff. The festival was ace though and the hotel was good value. Really good considerate atmosphere and everyone present seemed to actually like music.
I don't think there was any 'good stuff'
but there was a good supply of just about ok stuff to serve as breakfast and lunch. The food at the festival was the best ever though
The first few bands were announced around the end of Feb last year
I can't wait! It's a social fixture for me, along with ATP it's unmissable. Mike Patton and Zu were looking for UK festival bookings, so fingers crossed for that, I can't think of any place more fitting for them to play.
Oh man!
If Godflesh and Zu/Patton play this then I might have to go.
Do they do day tickets for this? I seem to remember them doing.
Definately up for going to this
never been to supersonic, having been meaning to for the last three!, anyway if you cant' wait, have a look at British Wildlife Festival, its of relevance to the supersonic lineup, sorry to spam!
www.myspace.com/britishwildlife
this is bound to be brilliant
tbh I'd go for the food again if nothing else. If they manage to get a full three days worth of beer into the place I reckon it'll end up being UK festival of the year, no messin'
you need to develop a taste for the 'Bow
funnily enough
I recall Tim moaning a lot about the food last year. Is that boy ever impressed by anything? SAFETY WINK
actually maybe that was just the barbecued foods
Tim is just furious at everything, all the time!
Those burgers were pretty rank though. It was all about those food stalls around the corner by the large indoor room.
I'm not sure I can get that into the 'Bow..however if needs must, I'll take the plunge
There is no Dana, only Zuuuuuuu
Head Of David/ 65 Days of Static / Berg Sans Nipple / Caribou / Cave/ Chris Herbert / Diagonal / Earthless /Flower & Corsano Duo / Genghis Tron / Growing / Jarboe / Khyam Allami / Master Musicians Of Bukake/ Nancy Wallace / Pontiak / PRE / Theo / Venetian Snares /Zu / ZzZ’s
Berg Sans Nipple are back?
great stuff
Whats up with the lack of interest in the line-up?
So far so good...
i think it's a great line-up so far
on paper, at least. i haven't heard of most of the bands, but their descriptions on the capsule website all whet my whistle. plus less doooooom, which, though great, can get a bit tiresome after six hours straight on a sunday afternoon.
It looks really good.
...but I can't get too excited.
I want to go, loads, but there's no way I'll be able to convince any of my friends to go, and I'll probably bottle going on my own as I'm a massive pussy.
more bands announced

Linkin Park and MCR headline. The Specials though!
I am a moron
wrong festival. ignore me. thanks
Damn....
if only LP and MCR were at Supersonic. Would be sick.
Atomized, Scorn and Skullflower added
Making me feel better about probably missing ATP.
Even more so since i noticed Atomized is Kylie Minoise and a guy from Black Sun
I was just about to post this!!11
Atomized sound funny
Atomized is the what occurs when you combine the tribal percussion and bellows of Lovely Feyde Rautha (Russell McEwan of Black Sun) and the electronic-vocal attack of Lea Cummings (Kylie Minoise) as they reinterpret some well known pop songs from the 80s, or as they describe - "Raped versions of pop classics by Madonna, Visage, Howard Jones, Haircut 100, & Culture Club." As you can imagine, the songs sound nothing like the original chart toppers, dwelling in a nocturnal grey area between Mummy and Daddy era-Whitehouse (especially on their Madonna and Visage cover) and Swans at their minimal best.
Equal parts industrial, noise and no-wave – it’s a heavy and merciless release from these two, the audio equivalent to Boy George’s night terrors in the clink. This will be released from Lea’s Kovorox Sound label in the not so distant future, be sure to catch their debut performance of this material at Glasgow Implodes this March.
Cool!
I've been meaning to check out Skullflower.
Skullflower¬
Amazing!
Wanted to see Bower play for ages now!
Iron Lung
are playing an' all. Powerviolins apparently
Kylie Minoise and Pram added.
This
looks great, and Theo is playing too.
amazing!
Kim Hiorthoy added.
Have only heard one album but it was pretty good. Could possibly seem as out of place as Tundra last year maybe....not that i'm complaining.
genghis tron
how come they not on the line up any more?!!!
i noticed that too
:(
You got your wish muggles.
Corrupted have been confirmed!
YES!
Got to go now. I'll try and magic some money out of nowhere (ebay) next week
Thorrs Hammer & The Accused are playing too
which is nice. Dunno if I can go anymore though which isn't very nice.
Thorr's Hammer!!

WOO HOO?
Goblin are playing as well
and
Goblin are playing
argh
Rubbish
Have people already booked hotels and shit for this??
What time
do bands usually start on the Friday? I want to go but really need to save my leave for later in the year so wondering if travelling up after work on the Friday is wise.
last time it was definitely later on on the friday
something like 7 I think. The other two days start after lunch but Friday is a relatively short one. If nothing has changed since last year anyway
Cool that's good news.
Thanks!
