Concrete and Glass time
available on their website
well they fucked that up well and truly.... there i was expect them to have music in a day, and the earliest anything starts is 7pm, and TVOTR are on a 1am in Herne Street car park, what on earth?!??!?
really not impressed with the times at all

typo
i meant "times" not "time"
Not really a surprise
Given the fact that most people will be finishing work at 5/6pm and need to get there.
but
they should surely advertsise as a late night event then.... especially as TVOTR are effectively the headline band. it's ok if you're from london - but if you're not it's a right pain. i've no complaints about them actually being on late, it's more the lack of communication about it before i bought a ticket, it's onyl fair to assume the main bands would be on before an 11pm curfew. also it's been advertised as an "urban festival" effectively, you'd expect some kind of music on in the day.
I had the same problem with Hox To Dot
I live outside of London too (25 mins on the train) and the event finished at 2 (last train home is 1.36). Pretty annoying but it was a one off, I'll forgive them.
the event finishing late is fine
even with the late notice - but so long as you but you're main acts on before the effective public transport curfew. TVOTR are the only reason i'm going to this - everyone else is peripheral.
I'm sure it's got to be an unfair condition of sale to not advertise an event as late night.
It seems to happen alot
Have you got in touch with the organisers? I know it won't change anything but they might give you some goodies or something.
I doubt it
They can easily say it's not centered around 1 "headline" act, given that it's in multiple venues.
Is there nowhere you can stay?
^
yeah - that's more than likely the angle they'll take. and nowhere nearby to stay really, can get a cab somewhere, but that's even more £££ on top of what I already thought was an slightly overpriced event.
I sent them a polite email - it's more the communication issue that's annoyed me - only 1 week before the event have they announced it's a late night one, regardless of who's playing when.
Good luck with that
On a better note, make sure you catch Telepathe, who are on directly before TVOTR - they're super.
thanks
what are they like - in a nutshell?
herne st car park
is pretty ace for live music, but it's outdoors so wrap up warm!
so
Pros:
Can see Sky Larkin then worry about getting a spot for TVotR
Cons:
How do you get back from Shoreditch to Manor House at 2am on your lonesome possibly?
Other things:
Should I even bother ? and just go to the Shepherds Bush Gig
I have a spare ticket also for Friday day if anyone wants it
Shoreditch to Manor House is easy
149 and then a short walk.
Oh and
how much is the Friday ticket? *may* be interested.
sorry, spare not spare
i've convinced my flatmate to come!
On a geeky bus nerd note...
You can get the 141 from the Old Street roundabout to Manor House, it runs all night.
cool, what i figured
141 goes past my house. Provided it is a night bus/24 hour
the Sheps Bush gig
is pretty much sold out except for the last tier up in the 'nosebleed' seats... I was considering if I should do Concrete and Glass or their Nov gig as well, but C&G won over. Car park ftw.
1 am! what the hell
not sure i am too happy about that!
bit of research
just seen that I can get the night bus from liverpool street to redbridge tube station (where I can park) that is mucho helpful! looking more postive now - but still annoyed that they don't announce these events as being late night earlier.
i just got a single ticket for this at Cafe 1001
Kimmo Pohjonen
Wildbirds and Peacedrums
Lykke Li
not a bad night out, despite the late night hassle of getting out of London
so
i just realised o'death are playing along with frightened rabbit and bodies of water. that's a good lineup. if i buy a single ticket do i still need to go to rough trade & pick up a wristband first?
It’s on Thursday and Friday? Why would it run in the daytime?
Everyone's at work!
I can’t see how they’re to blame – it’s pretty standard for these “Camden Crawl” type events to be evening-only affairs.
Fair point
but I guess they should really advertise opening/finishing times.
woot!
i just won tickets to this.
now i have to work out how i can go..
Double Woot
I've just won two tickets as well.
Me too - I guess they haven't sold too well
I was going to go anyway and have booked both days off work - now wondering if I should have bothered given that there's no music until the evening ... oh well will just have to spend all day in the pub, I s'pose
Ticket winners....
what competition did you win? seems everyone here on DiS has won tickets! I want to go to this but am rather skint at the minute so winning some tickets would be good!
I had an email from them the other day.
But if your'e quick there's a comp here
http://www.thewire.co.uk/articles/1441/
Yeah, I won as well.
So, am I correct in thinking TVOTR are playing at 1 am? Jesus Christ.
What other bands do people recommend? I've got my eye on Telepathe, Errors maybe Fujiya & Miyagi and Frightened Rabbit, but I'm unfamiliar with the rest.
Me too. Boom
Not gonna make Thursday though, sadly.
Magistrates
are definitely worth a listen - v good live at Field Day this year
TVOTR now at Cargo
from C+G website:
"
Due to unforeseen licensing restrictions imposed upon Hearne Street Car Park by Hackney Council the organisers behind Concrete and Glass have had to at the last minute move the TV ON THE RADIO show to CARGO on Friday 3rd October
We will amend and announce a reviewed line up and timings schedule as soon as possible on the Concrete and Glass website
Whilst this is slightly more trying a situation than we’d like at this stage – we’re still really happy that TV On The Radio and everyone involved has been so flexible and we look forward to a (very sweaty) and legendary show."
seems that the schedule is still being updated... there's quite a few clashes for cargo on it, and F&M don't appear on it. also cats in paris have cancelled.
I thought they
would have sorted that out by now. Same thing happened for that Neon Neon gig.
Could this turn in to...
another Field Day?
OMG
There are going to be so many pissed off TVOTR fans tomo night that can't get in..
field day?
its starting to feel that way. no information until the last few days (some of which is plain contradictory - they had Telepathe on at 12am on the website and 2:30am on Sched.org) and then they shift all the schedules around! i know its tough to organise an event like this first time around but come on guys!
has anybody been to cargo? what sort of capacity is it? thanks a lot
Cargo
is about 400 capacity who can actually SEE the stage - the car park is bigger.
whut?
oh dammit! Now I really have to get there early to see TVOTR... at least with the car park there was a chance but now in a venue like Cargo it's going to really be hell on Earth to even be able to see the band on stage
gah
exactly what happened for Neon Neon then... why do they even try?
How big is Cargo ? :S
def
what roast said... bout 400 capacity.. I haven't been to Cargo in so long and I like the venue but *sigh* let's just say that it's gonna be madness one way or the other...
i think the room
where they have the gigs at cargo holds even less than 400, and i think they monitor it, it's a good space but it can certainly get very claustrophobic in there very quickly... i'm sooo in two minds about whether i should go or not but tvotr was THE selling point for me too (after listening to their new record a lot all week...) so if they are definitely playing at cargo i might not bother... hmmmmm....
wat happened
to Micachu on the lineup as well... and Fujiya and Miyagi?
bugger
has micachu gone?
yeah... (?)
can't find her name on the official Concrete and Glass schedule lineup anymore... hopefully it's not a permanent thing because she is lovely... and that would be complete FAIL if she isn't performing tomorrow night anymore
i expect
they're just trying to arrange where they're playing right now so they're not on the schedule. they're still listed on the "artists" page (http://www.concreteandglass.co.uk/artists)
uh-huh -
I'm also wondering what's happened to Micachu - I doubt I'll bother wrestling with the masses to get in for TVOTR now, and Telepathe's new slot is too late for me, so if Micachu has dropped of the bill then my schedule for tomorrow night has been reduced from 4 acts to one (Liz Green). Lucky I won my ticket and didn't pay for it!
i'm thinking the same
re: not having to have paid for my ticket
that makes sense
:)
To the people who won tickets:
do you reckon you collect wristbands on both days, meaning you can bring a different person for each day, or you only bring one for both days?
you get
both at the same time so can take a different person to each night
ERRORS!
band of the night. fucking amazing. I haven't danced like that at a gig in ages. The photgraphers at the front where a little annoying at the start (sorry LJ) but when they moved it was easier to get the elbows moving. I've known of them for a while now but hadn't given them a proper listen, boy is my face red! They'll be a hard act to top tomorrow.
Also Bodies of Water were great. A lot better than Frightened Rabbit who preceded them and had a much bigger audience. Do you think they could have played the same riff any more?
Did anyone see Ludovico Eunaudi
Thought it was amazing and great visuals although didnt play most of the stuff I knew
yes i was there
it was great, although felt a bit more could've been done with the visuals and the whole thing dragged a little towards the end, but still a really good show.
.
it seemed a bit strange that Frightened Rabbit were the first band, seeing the amount of folk that came in to see them. They were okay I guess.
But I was there to see Bodies Of Water, who were great. Shame they didn't play more from their first album though.
& I didn't stay around to see O'Death unfortunately, although I was a bit curious about them.
.
O' Death were fantastic. Good supports too- am tempted to check out Bodies of Water's back catalogue now.
yeah FR were great
but Bodies of Water really stole the show
great opinion
i agree, errors spread such a good vibe, that was really enjoyable.
so, anyone managed to get into cargo
for tvotr? the queue was huge!
and much like field day these last minute time changes (we went to the strongroom and OBL both of which had revised stage times) was frustrating.
The queue was far too long
we ended up just wandering around to different bars in Shoreditch
Yeah, I got in
We arrived about 9pm and camped there all night, pretty much.
ha
my ticket just came in the post today. a small delay maybe.
