saw a thread on travel hell and got me thinking about festival hell.
here's mine - the memory is far funnier than the reality...
eclipse 2000 whenever it was. We had tickets to the midday mooners festival. we arrived at 4am and kipped in the car for a bit. My fairweather friend (there was about 6 of us in total) woke us up at 8am demanding to be taken to the rail station because he "didnt want to die being savaged by some crusty dog."
we did a quick reccy of the site which turned out to have 3 small tents/awnings and lots of trucks painted matt black. Nosebleed gabba techno was streaming from every audio device there. No food or drink on site.
when in rome we thought..so for the next couple of nights we necked all our supplies and joined in.
the morning of day 3 we heard lots of vehicles pulling up. quick look out of the tent we saw a line of riot police banging their shields and helicopters overhead. Turns out their was no license for the festival (pretty obvious) and the organisers werent going easily. Rocks were thrown, police stormed the site, took all the soundsystems - we had to go the next morning or be arrested.
needless to say my car battery was flat which meant pushing it uphill out of a field past disapproving police.
Got back to Notingham about 8 hrs later.
So, what other festival hell stories?
