I'm not bothered about it myself.
Fantomas performing Directors Cut
Ladies and gentleman we have skronk. I'm there.
Neil Hamburger is the WORST thing in the world.
but i've just been looking at allmusic, and he seems rated?
who does deliberately bad jokes. it is really really really annoying. but i kind of like it.
Room for a poorly dressed chalet-mate?
With the emphasis strictly OFF mating.
it depends on work and money and stuff.
I don't want to sleep with you though.
I've just booked my leave anyway.
And why have I not seen it? I could have Killed for some fried chicken the other weekend.
beaten to it.
Is this going to be another noise-fest?
Now regretting not going to either of the May ATPs.
It's all about the noise. I reckon BSS will be doing one of the May ones next year so maybe save your money.
If they manage to fit in 5/6 non-noise bands, like Portishead last year, it'll be worth going still.
Can't see it though with this one...
To me something like Prurient or Merzbow is noise. There was a fair bit of that at the Thurston one (along with loads of other brilliance). Nothing on that lineup to me is strictly noise though.
NBC should be a slightly 'darker' lineup and Patton is the perfect curator. People on here have been saying he should do it for a couple of years. I guess it 'aint for everyone.
what noise bands played portishead?
Can I change noise to noisY, as noisY isn't a genre and thus won't offend people...
i went and dont remember it being much about the noise, or even the hard rock http://www.atpfestival.com/archive/line_up.php?archive=97
plenny folk/hip hop/trip hop
And I, by process of elimination, am wrong.
Still, this year looks relatively noisy...
i want some nice stuff too please mike or mel or whoever
...but I think the Thurston NBC was the most fun ATP that I've been to.
but as i said, i'd prefer there to be some fun stuff too
that i like Neil Hamburger, he makes me quite want to go.
further down \/
if i could book him the saturday before to play with Damo Suzuki/Acid Mothers Temple...oh my...
Want to get a chalet?
I don't like the bands either. We'll have so much fun!
At the very least, you can watch me have a good time!
If those are early bird tickets im worried about how much they are going to be come the 1st July...
I can't access wegottickets at work.
plus whatever fees they add on, which will make it >£150.
I want to go, but that is a lot of money just to see the melvins. I'm not fussed about any of Patton's stuff.
which is of course the sensible thing to do, you muppets!
Let alone 3 friends who like good music and are willing to go to atp you muppet.
you post more to make yourself more recruitable. I'm in!
Think Miss World pageant, but for ATP
apro pos acheiving enough people to share with and ridding the need to spend the weekend being a muppet :D
140 pp for non-catering
but I don't think I'll bother. Can't see Patton or the Melvins getting anyone I'd be fussed by
hows the envy treating you?
I spent £14 of my last £20 in the world one them last weekend
but I need friends to make up the 4 berth room. I badly need to see ISIS.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
anyone want to buy me loan me £280 for a couple weeks?
IT'S GOING TO BE MY FAVOURITE FESTIVAL EVER!
I'M SO EXCITED!
WHICH WILL BE EXCITING FOR ME :D
ONLY IF THERE AREN'T ENOUGH FORKS!
exciting. More metal please.
that would be so good. I want Neurosis too.
not sure about slayer, but that would be absolutely quality
If so they would be very likely to turn up. I would love to see Lombardo playing with Zorn again. Please, let there be Zorn.
I'm still hoping they pull some really awesome influential punk band out of retirement or something. That or El-P.
I won't be able to afford it till the end of summer, and I'll need to see if I can book time off work, but c'mon, who wants to be in MY gang? Cyberdemon? Warno? Bizzy? Doubtful? Jizzmaster Joeymahone?
you have to take rocknrollmassacre though. bargain 2 for 1 DiSer deal. Limited time only!
so i'm going to ignore all the concept of tickets for a month or two.
But lbc says he can't afford it for a month or two anyway.
when you have very little mon E Y
i took heed when fred durst talked of someone's mouth writing checks that their ass failed to be able to cash.
there is pretty much nothing on earth which would stop me. Except my manager.
but planning can wait as far as i'm concerned.
into a 'banned' area so this is DEFINITELY happening
Isis+Locust+Melvins+Fantomas+Dalek+ My Birthday = Not enough friends to get a chalet. Lets see who I can bribe...
does Neil Hamburger get gigs. One of the worst performers I've ever seen.
so yes, pity. He can only afford to eat fun size fruit cocktail packs for god's sake. Give the poor man a gig and put off his inevitable suicide another day.
When's it gonna be on the ATP site? My life isn't complete if I'm not checking the ATP site for updates.
I want to see artwork, the last few years have seen the best ATP artwork [erases Limp Bizkit-esque artwork for 'Vs. the Fans' from memory]
they'll probably sort it out next work for the site.
I think wegottickets may have been a bit naughty in putting it up early....
Man I wish I was at Primavera.
I'm hoping for:
Dillinger Escape Plan
Melvins and Fantomas doing their Big Band (this HAS to happen)
featuring Norah Jones. And Farmers Market.
I want to do a little dance but I'm in my office :(
High on Fire and Electric Wizard possibles, yes?
Melt Banana, Kaada and Fennesz too. OH GOD I'M SO EXCITED.
I'm going to be away when they're playing here :'(
Lightning Bolt too?
There'll be some hip-hop - Dalek's already on there :)
and NORTHERN STATE plz.
I will buy a ticket, 100%. I don't care if I am poor!
I'm sure Hella will play :)
after the "summer" ones just gone i was pretty much "YEAH I'M GOING TO EVERY ATP FOR THE REST OF TIME YEAH", but i don't think i'm really *that* up for this if it's at minehead
I've never been to an ATP before due to my appalling organisational skills.
But... like the look of the lineup so far, I totally need some noise after the indie-fest that was dot to dot.
for good measure??
lets go!!!! i'll have money by then, and stuff
I can barely wait!!! Fingers crossed for Hella, John Zorn and Boredoms too, possibly Marnie Stern & Von Sudenfed too!!!!
on marnie stern
Poster looks nice.
"that's not gold, that's dung!"
why haven't I heard of this guy before?
are playing too according to the annoying seetickets weekly email that I can't seem to fecking cancel.
that actually sways it a fair bit, Mastodon and ISIS.
Still saying no though I think.
Mastodon and Isis are over here all the time! I wouldn't be bothered if I never saw Isis again. Bet there'll be some exciting stuff announced later.
well hate's a bit strong, but it's different a band playing a gig and being involved in a festival, one after the other.
I just don't like Isis at all. Er that's what I meant.
is a million times better at ATP.
a million times more drunk?
because ATP never fails to have an absolutely brilliant atmosphere.
there is no way on earth that I am not going to this.
If DEFINITELY going to try and get to this.
and Grails please.
HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY
OH SO HEAVY
i'd say go for it while they're still on the early bird price and find a sharer later?
did you already do it when i was in hospital? heartless bastards.
but there is grouping going on. Will you be contagious?
im gonna buy a three-birth and hope for the best again, it worked out fine at EITS
been this excited about an ATP for ages. I want updates now, and I want it to be December already.
Am I asking too much?
want it to be December because I need some sun and I hate christmas but I AM super excited about NBC! :0
Makes up for post-Primalona depression and shit english weather slightly...
Can't wait, I've been dying to see Bohren Und Der Club Of Gore for aaaages.
arent that great live.
i think this fest would work better at camber sands, minehead is too...nice
I like the contrast.
I like Bohren a lot.
We need more jazz at ATP. Its been very under-represented over the years.
I must go to this and I spent my last money in the world in barcelona. On a shit sandwich, with some kind of tomato jam in it.
dose one? odd nosdam? jel? some snticon goodness? please? god i'm excited.
an email reminder, but if not, just a quick post to say there's only a week left to buy early bird tickets.
new band announcements due fairly soon.
come on Mike and Buzz...give me some more bands! i can't wait to find out who else is doing this!!! even though im sure its quite predictable (Lustmord, Rahzel, Dub Trio, Qui, Peeping Tom etc...)
I'm far more interested in Patton's choices anyway. More of them please then I might think about it.
additions! I am well excited.
is Holy Roar named after the Torche song? eh?
I am so excited! SO excited!
are playing at the forum on the 7th of December...
So excited, it's looking awesome already. Now please add the following Mr Patton/Buzz:
Mr Bungle reunion (well two of them are there already)
Jesus Lizard (i'll settle for Qui with David Yow)
A selection of most of the bands annouced so far. Hope it's useful to someone.
Couldn't get any Torche on it though...
muxtape allows you 12 songs and we have 12 artists so far. good selections though.
I've been trying! Muxtape is a little weird. Some Melvins and Torche stuff just refuses to go on there. As for the rest of it, just had no luck in finding it...
sometimes it wont accept certain filesizes or types of mp3 encoding. oh well.
fucking great addition for you:
Saw J.G Thirwell a few years back in a library and he was really intense. Manorexia will be soooooo good.
if the poster is the robots plus the lineup I might actually buy one this time
now some moer Mike Patton additions, plz.
like a cow
My original excitement has subsided somewhat. With cash being a bit tight this year it'll have to be good to get me there.
Oh well, it's only 1/3 announced and all the potentially exciting stuff will be on the Patton side anyway. What happened to those Mastodon rumours? Presumably they aren't playing now if they are touring in Oct/Nov with Slayer.
I'm getting more and more excited with every announcements!
Any word on when there'll be a Patton choice announced, Jamie?
but you know you can't trust those promises to be too accurate ;-)
is a proper bad ass!
I CANNOT WAIT.
Was gutted that i didn't get to see the recently. Ultraglide is one of the greatest cover-albums...bring it!
Now where's Qui and Dillinger?
i am far too impatient.
On a different note, apparently Dillinger Escape Plan were not asked to play by Patton as they are not obscure enough anymore or something. Black Bubblegum was an awful awful song but still a bit of a surprise.
where is DUB TRIO!!!
but the rest isn't enticing me to travel the country quite yet
torche and big business are all great but there's nowhere near enough good stuff to get me forking out the 150 quid yet.
Got my ticket booked! Missing Harvey this week so would love them to be added.
...and I don't know if he left Melvins amicably or not....
Now this is looking good. Still want to see more Patton picks.
Jamie Summers - I know you are a Zorn fan. Please can you use your considerable influence to convince your employers that he is worth whatever astronomical sum I'm sure he commands to play live.
This is excellent news, they were amazing at the Mars Volta ATP
Can't wait 'til December.
Naked City would be mint
(summary: 2 and 3 berths selling out)
seetickets email (deleted it before I could read mine) lists Slayer. I hope they will do a special 'not the same fucking set we've been doing for years' set!
squarepusher and butthole surfers added!
see the Butties again and then twice in 6 months, brilliant, brilliant news.
I need to get this sorted soon. I couldn't afford this and End of the Road this month.
Is it because Barry is picking some of the bands because none of Patton's choices will play? I'm worried now. Where the fuck is Zorn?
stay with them.
I'll have the money to go by this time next week but none of my loser friends wants to go. I'm ever so nice and you'll hardly notice I'm there.
some reaaaaally good announcements coming up in the next week.
too, yesterday! :0
it's good enough already to be honest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pleasure overload!!!!
Please say no...
tickets selling quickly at the moment so if people want one of the less common options (2,3,7) then have to be quick.
Double Negative were playing? What's up with this?
The drummer is their friend Brian Walsby who gave the 'Making Love' demos away with his comic book.
see how we spoil you?
but if it involves Trevor Dunn it's likely to be wild. Getting Patton and Melvins to curate this is the best decision ATP have ever made, I think.
I hereby announce my intention to pull a girl during the KONTACKT performance. It doesn't matter which girl.
Just when I thought Thurston Moore wouldn't be on the bill he pops up yet again, my mates will be very pleased..
IS ZORN? sort it out.
I love new announcements, especially on Fridays!
Who picked which band by the way?
a chalet share scheme for people who missed out on the 2 and 3 person chalets and can't afford a bigger one:
its limited though, first come first served
So I’ve just spent a grand booking a chalet for me + comrades.
This’ll be our 4th ATP. We decided that we were going to go every time regardless of curators etc. This is the first one where most of the acts are fairly unfamiliar to us, so I’m well looking forward to being surprised. But can anyone tell me who the ‘headline acts’ (horrible phrase and quite inappropriate for ATP really, but you get my gist) are from the current line-up? There are usually 2 for each night right? (Main stage and Centre stage) and I imagine they’ll do the acts playing 2 sets in the smaller venue again. I’m guessing The Melvins and Fantomas of course, but who from the lineup might do the other nights/ stage?
Good lord I get excited by these events.
3 hour set
i'd like a 3 hour set from neil hamburger on the sunday night in the pavilion.
prince's emancipation cd acapella in reds.
months of excitement now!!
announce some of brilliant stuff we're sorting out at the moment.
and nothing's been said yet!
I'm such a announcement slut!
why there's no 5 berth self-catered chalets listed? Do they not exist?
He was really boring when I saw him last year. Good news about Mugison and Os Mutantes though!
will you annouce dep and slayer?????
as they are too mainstream or something.
Oh my god!
I've never heard of these guys.
But They WILL be amazing!!!
This will definitely be one of the most eclectic ATP festivals yet.
is so so good
Maybe I should actually go.
II is one of my favourite buys this year. And I am enjoying Up On The Sun loads.
they're stunning live.
I'll give you that. They're just not that good.
also added to the lineup, picked by Mike Patton.
OH MY FUCKING GOD!
PARMEGIANI!! This is absolutely amazing news.
The man is, for me, THE finest purveyor of musique concrete/acousmatic sound ever, let alone still living.
Anyone intrigued by this guy should check out 'De Natura Sonorum' immediately.
What a legend.
When he was confirmed for Autechre's ATP I was majorly gutted that I wasn't going.
So yeah, this is the pick for me!
all I need now is Nurse With Wound and Merzbow and I'll be jumping through burning hoops from now 'til December!
Maybe this is the kick up the arse I need to buy that 12cd Parmegiani set.Hmmm...
I take it Melvins have had all their picks now?
There goes any chance of Neurosis appearing.....
I've not heard of him before. It's unlikely NWW will play, Merzbow would be a nice addition to the lineup. More noise plz!
Several people were staring at the stage wondering what was going on until we realised he was at the mixing desk. He was basically mixing recordings of De Natura Sonorum in quadrophonic. Doesn't sound that good, granted, but the overall effect was great. Not too sure how that would work in the Minehead venues where the desk isn't in the middle of the crowd (can't see it being a main stage act).
Nice to see ATP growing some balls. With this, the Stockhausen thing and the various world acts announced this is looking like a really original and eclectic ATP.
NWW played the Thurston one last year, so it's in realms of possibility.
Yeah, more noise please!
will you please do a last.fm playlist with all the artists and such so we can research
Forgive my virginal ATP questions but can someone please clarify the following...
Have I got this right:-
There's a large marquee, a 3000 capacity venue and a 1500 capacity venue.
How does that work exactly? Is there always three acts playing at any one time?
Are they staggered somehow? I don't like the idea of missing 2/3rd's of the acts.
Surely this isn't the case.
Please enlighten me.
I'm still hoping for a Danny De Vito dj set.....
finishes around 10pm (due to noise restrictions, I think), and the smallest stage often doesn't get started until around this time. There's some staggering, but generally there are 2 acts on at any one time. You do get the occasional agonising 3-way clash, though (e.g. Battles/Wilco/ghost at vs the Fans).
They were fantastic. But I'm still bitter that I had to miss all of Battles and most of Wilco to see them.
One that's in the big main space that has loads of stuff surrounding it, like a pizza hut and burger king & bars. They put some curtainy stuff up around the stage though to keep the sound from getting really really bad, but it's not all bad if your in an okay spot.
Centre stage is the 1500 capacity, much nicer sound, although last time you got a nasty smell of onions everytime you walked in as it had a hotdog stand right by the entrance, they do throw people out of it for the bands that'll play twice or will be very popular (e.g. melvins, fantomas if they play in there)
Reds is the smallest stage that has the unknown stuff playing in it and it's pretty good too
The only thing I missed back in may was te national to go see dinosaur jr. But there was some clashing going on so it's all down to your taste.
Solo set, Hella AND Marnie Stern PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That must be nearly it surely?
had his quadruple heart by-pass then?
wont be appearing, tim is gonna be in recovery for a long time.
i'd be interested to see if patton actually asked them though, considering there was an online appeal for them to perform.
that there's about another 5-10 to be announced. I'm sure when there were around 25 announced it stated that only half the bands had been chosen.
Cool additions! Hurrah for Fennesz!!
I never thought I'd see Chaka Khan, Phil Collins, Mick Hucknall mentioned on the ATP site!
I'm now resigned to the fact that ATP have let pass the only opportunity they will ever have to get John Zorn to play their wonderful festival.
However this lineup goes from strength to strength. Fennesz (along with Pole) totally changed the way I listen to music. Vocal Sampling and the Labeque Sisters sound great. I have never been this excited about an ATP.
one new band:
right, i'm there as soon as the student loan comes along. getting friday's off for the whole year just made up my mind.
Also, hopefully this will mean there's atleast 3 more Patton picks to come, just to balance it out.
So fingers crossed for Kaada, John Zorn and Merzbow (even just one of these would be fantastic).
Merzbow would be good, last time I saw him he'd switched back to an analog set up...
then please let me know and i'll happily be that extra one. as i would like to go but as normal i'll be on my own.
Nah, that's pretty underwhelming to be honest.
heard of Junior Brown before, but he's a bad-ass guitarist judging from the Youtube videos.
How many picks left?
have the sunday spare in their tour dates, plus there's this odd little article.
Its on 43 groups atm, and teenage jesus will only play for 20mins so thats only a half act. So maybe 7.5 picks left??
That'll be awesome, she's got some voice huh?
Really hope she's on real late into the night in reds, atmosphere!
that I can't afford this, oh well - NYC in Feb better make up for it!
just drop me a line if you need an extra person. thanks
we are doing a chalet share scheme...
Due to the smaller chalet options selling out so fast and the huge demand from people wanting to attend this christmas, we've decided to start a 'Share A Chalet' scheme for those who want to come but can't find enough people to buy a bigger chalet.
If you wouldn't mind sharing with people you don't know in order to be able to buy a chalet, please email us at email@example.com, and we will get back to you with more information on how you can pay. We are offering PAIRS of tickets so that two of you will have your own room within a shared chalet.
This is a limited offer so we may not be able to help everyone that emails; first come first served.
i managed to find myself one, and now i can't wait for it.
any bus tickets on sale this year from taunton to minehead like before?
Preferably before 12 as I'm Flying to Cologne later!!
Coincidentally Bohren & the Club of Gore are playing in Cologne tonight but my plane lands after they will have finished. Bummer.
I reckon we've got a handful of picks left to come for NBC.
okay we're down to just 4 berth chalets now, and not a huge amount left.
also, lastfm radio it up:
thursday in case anyone wants to get in on that
I was within a whisker of buying Like Weather once.
I'll probably watch her at this.
is great, as is her new album. Looking forward to seeing how it's all pulled off live.
loud, electronic nastyness. good stuff.
I'd love to go to this but have been far too lazy in organising myself. If anyone has a spare ticket they could sell me, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
flipper myspace: We have unfortunately had to postpone our tour that was scheduled for Nov. / Dec. For personal reasons, Krist Novoselic was unable to do the tour and we were also faced with a list of business deals that we need to negotiate and set up before we hit the road.
Any more acts left to be announced??
just a few 4 berths left on seetickets and gigantic
and will get back to you. sorry havent replied on lfm, very busy yesterday
Still very excited about this.
But are there any bands left to be announced????
news coming soonish
i thought that was it :)
I was a little bit jealous when I saw that he was playing the Australian one.
For this interesting and eclectic lineup.
One question though. Why can't you tell us who's been asked but can't do it like you do with V The Fans? If you could tell me categorically that John Zorn won't be playing in any form then it would make my life considerably easier.
is Backwater Blues?! Lovin it.
PM me if you're interested.
alone in thinking martin a topley bird is a little out of kilter with the rest of the line-up?
still torche and butthoile surfers, dream styleeee
According to a posting on Mastodon's official website, www.mastodonrocks.com, Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher has been hospitalized in London, ENG with an undisclosed ailment. The full posting reads as follows:
"Bill Kelliher, guitarist with MASTODON, has been hospitalized in London as of Nov.3, during the band's current European Unholy Alliance Chapter 3 package tour. Doctors will continue to monitor his condition which is improving at press time.
At the moment, Mastodon has decided to continue on the tour as a trio. Doctors and Bill are hopeful that he will rejoin his bandmates in time for their headlining tour of Europe which begins Nov 30, in Utrecht, Holland and will end on Dec 7, at the All Tomorrow?s Parties Festival in Somerset, England. More details to follow as they develop."
has anyone got their ticket yet?
Aren't they being posted out this week?
My seetickets order tracker says 'we are waiting for these tickets to come in stock'
Yes please to more announcements!
I thought they'd be sent out a week before the event to avoid touting. As for more announcements, I think that's the full line up sorted. I'm pretty sure Patton and Melvins could curate another ATP with a completely different line up, I feel as if they've missed so much out.
10th november, (in fact it's here http://www.atpfestival.com/events/nbc2008/news.php?view=974 ) But see may bee abit slow at it or something.
And I was thinking that the line-up isn't what I'd imagine the melvins n patton to pick but then out of the 1s patton could pick 90% of them would involve him playing aswell, which would make you sick of the guy by the end of the 1st day lol. Plus if you look at the stuff the melvins cover alot you've got pussy galore, butthole surfers, the cows, los lobos, flipper, the wipers. Admittedly quite of few of those are split up, but it would've been nice to get some of them, although they have got the butthole surfers and boss hog to do it. Plus no jello biafra, which I thought would be quite likely.
But I do really like the line-up we've got and there's alot of stuff I'm looking forward to.
Actually, the only bands I can think of that he's been involved in is Dalek and Isis. That's off the top of my head though, I may be wrong.
there's a youtube video of him playing with them around I think, but that's what I meant, potentially it could have been:
Faith No More
Dillinger Escape Plan
General Patton vs. The X-Ecutioners
And that's just nicking the 1s off wikipedia lol. All of which would've had patton on stage having abit of a dance around.
have sent out their gumpf about tickets...... don't know if that counts as getting the tickets though?
On the line up, I've only ever heard of 5-10% of the bands before, and at first I was a little disappointed,
however, after doing some you tube/ last fm-ing, I'm really excited, 'tis a well eclectic line up.
Something for everyone, as they say, looks like it's gonna be another ATP after which I'll have another handful of new favourite bands!!
Bring it on!
Although the Fennesz isn't out yet...
On Trevor Dunn's myspace it says
ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES: Fantomas (!) plays The Director’s Cut (feat. Dale Crover, drums)
I don't know if that means two drummers or Dale Crover taking over.
I suspect it might mean that Dave can't make it - seeing as he's pretty busy with the Unholy Alliance tour. I hope that's not the case though :(
Slayer do finish up on their tour by the end of this month so it's not too unlikely to think they'd pop over for atp a few days later. Although they might be having to go back to the US early or something.
Fantomas Melvins Big Band which features both drummers.
Hopefully anyway. It would be shit if Lombardo isn't there.
I'm rooting for the Big Band doing Directors Cut. That would be AWESOME.
He is pencilled in for all of the dates, including a new year's gig. Surely they would just call it FantomasMelvins if that's what it's going to be. Anyway there's always room for Crover
Surely Zach Hill is a definite, he has an ATP sized gap in his schedule.
Only 3 weeks to go!!!
should i have them by now? :(
hopefully you should have them in the next few days if you havent yet
i shall give it a few days then
Booked with SeeTickets.Anyone else had them from these guys yet? I live in the Channel Islands and I get a little nervous that they wont be sent in time.
And yes, more bands please!
I checked my status online today and apparently my tickets were posted yesterday and should arrive today/tomorrow. However, I'm at work so there'll hopefully be a card shoved through the letter box when I get home.
Can everyone please post in here when your tickets arrive, so people know when to expect theirs. Oh, and who you booked them with too.
and has been for a while: it's here http://www.wegottickets.com/atpinfo incase anybody has deleted there emails or not got an email.
Mine arrived last Saturday. From seetickets.
Was given same info as Netochka.
and havnt recieved nothing as of this morning, im hoping its soon i get worried , its only 3 weeks away!
arrived yesterday. they're lovely. i'm officially excited now. all i want is the last few lineup announcements.
get a card shoved through from the postman! So that's a hungover trip to the sorting office for my tickets on Saturday then.
rustinspace - I reckon you should get yours in the next few days if your status was the same as mine.
Hope everyone here gets theirs soon then, the wait is a killer.
A Place to Bury Strangers have a gap in their UK tour on the Sunday of ATP.
I sure wouldn't mind if they filled it with a night in Minehead.
So it's relatively close to minehead, they'd be a nice addition.
tickets from stargreen yet? :( im gettin worried am gonna callu m up see whats goin on if other people have got theirs already from there
some final announcements today perhaps?
2 WEEKS TO GO!!!
Where's the fucking bands gone? Jackie Leven will do it.Get him.
Although I can't see him playing NBC.
Am rather looking forward to it.
Already have the shopping list so we can eat, drink and be merry all weekend, but please do tell; Is the line up complete, or are there acouple more surprises up sleves somewhere?
James Blood Ulmer was appearing.
get them. Are The Drones touring Aus? If not an obvious but welcome choice. This festival building stuff is easy.
Locust vs. Torche?
Also. back to using the Crazy Horse. I quite like that room.
and at the same time as James Blood Ulmer, disappointing.
More than made up for by the fact that everything is on centre stage or reds, should be an awesome atmosphere. Plus Mastodon twice.
The small venues here are way better than the pavilion sound and atmosphere wise!
Think there'll be lines stretching round the complex (a la Joanna Newsom Dirty Three ATP) for the one offs like
Isis and the Meat Puppets on Friday!!!
Which will be a bummer as I hate queuing and I hate missing great bands!
while others are gonna be packed, I don't think I'm gonna leave the centre stage between the dirtbombs thru to the meat puppets. But hopefully the smaller capacity & lack of it being soldout should help it along abit.
Why does the music finish at 2.45 and 3 am on the fri and sat. But 3.30 on the Sunday, the night before we get kicked out at 10am????
djs go on until 4am every night.
already confused. Does this mean that there are no bands to be added to the bill?
better start drinking on the 10am train
and I passed out before Dirty Three : ( I need to pace!
is what I'll be seeing first, actually the weekend will probably start & end on hardcore (melvins on friday, double negative on sunday)
6.00pm-6.45pm - MONOTONIX
8.00pm-9.00pm - DALEK
9.45pm-10.45pm - BLACK HEART PROCESSION
11.15pm-12.00am - GHOSTIGITAL
12.30am-1.15am - BOSS HOG
Butthole Surfers and Fantomas, bum about for a bit, then back in for Mastodon, Melvins and The Damned. I want to see Monotonix and Dalek though. I wish there were no clashes whatsoever...
I'm now even more excited about this event.
Has Parmegiani just been moved? He was on at 4 before.
Now I have to decide between him and Bohren and the Club of Gore :(
Isis and Zu clash too.
Where exactly is centre stage? I'm guessing it's a marquee as it's not on the Butlins map.
but it's only a 15 min runover, I can deal with 'only' 40min of Bernard.
it was great for monging out in a big cold weirdozone
in fact i'm a bit merked off. could of at least filled it with noise-ambient projects. Kontakte in crazy horse? FUCK OFF.
i swear there is much sense of general mad lunacy on this years lineup times.
Same here.I also find that centre stage can be a little claustrophobic. Will miss the monging too.The queues at the centre stage bars will be intollerable.
I will be bringing my stopwatch though so if at any point it goes over three minutes i'm up and outta that festival faster than you can say miffle
I meant to say, I am surprised you have had a problem.
where the cocktails came down from the ceiling last xmas. We don't have that sort of thing up north
Cant remember, can you takes drinks from venue to venue?
It was like a silver van thing with a bar in the side. Wasn't it?
And you could take drinks out of Jaks and the sports bar I think. I can't say it ever took too long to get served upstairs, though I have waited for a fucking age in Reds once the other stages have finished. They don't seem to put any extra staff on despite that being the only place with stuff on.
at Minehed has always been rubbish too, always up up sticking to the spirits and being on the floor. Fun times.
run out of dark rum, by early sat evening!
What's with the rum shortage??
Can they get extra in this time???
and drink it when you get in or as you're walking round the site.
illicit booze for the win
but every upload site that I know of is blocked at work, so I can't post it until I get home tonight.
i can wait till tonight
Chin stroking electronica - Squarepusher
Moshing hardcore - Double Negative
How are you gonna end it?
Sunday night's always the best night at ATP
is the traditional slot for amazing insanity when really everyone should be too tired for it.
then coach, train, taxi, train, plane.
to do a bit of both!
At the Portishead one you had to choose one of the 2 days when you arrived. In a perfect world I'd like to see the Melvins and Fantomas on Sunday but Mastodon on Sat. Will there be a set day you have to plump for or you reckon they'll be able to come up with a more flexible system. I have every faith it'll work what ever it is, they always put in loads of thought. And if I have to miss a band, that's life I suppose! Would be nice to get my cake AND eat it though!
They're just clearing out the room before the sets in order for it to be fair.
Last year Aphex did 2 sets and the Sunday had much less demand as some people go home early (fools) so that may be a better option (er, unless everyone gets that idea obviously)
it'll be like this:
You'll get a wristband for Buttholes/Fantomas and one for Mastodon/Melvins and they'll take it off you on the door when you go in to see them. So if you've already seen any of these bands the previous night and you turn up on the second night without that wristband then the people who still have their wristbands for these bands will get priority and you'll probably have to queue, or watch somebody else if it's rammed.
That seems logical to me. Whether it'll be like that though, we shall see....
Although, there might be problems if you want to watch say, Buttholes on the first night and Fantomas on the second night. In which case aaaaarrrghhhh bollocks to my theory. As you were.
from what's said on the ATP site, I'm guessing that if you queue up for the first performance by one of these bands but fail to get in, they'll give you a wrist band/ticket that'll get you in first for the other performance.
shouldn't be too much of a problem. 4400 people at the event, capacity of around 3000 for the centre stage, and for each of these bands a few people who'll have no interest in seeing them at all. Unless there are loads of people looking to see them twice, I doubt they'll have to turn many people away.
on Saturday for example, then claiming I couldn't get in, asking for a wristband and watching them again on Sunday? I apologise in advance if there is an obvious answer to this, I'm very tired and hungover today and subsequently the brain is in the cupboard above the kitchen sink.
Hopefully this won't be an issue anyway. As pointed out up there ^ somewhere the capacity has been reduced quite significantly so all should be fine and dandy.
Someone further up this thread said so.
says either 2600 or 2800
Huw Costin (Earth The Californian Love Dream frontman) has joined Richard Warren AKA Echoboy in The Cold Light Of Day. Also featuring Big Jim Widdup on pedal steel, Lee Horsley on piano and Spiritualised's Kev Bales on drums. They will be the backing band for Soulsavers featuring Mark Lanegan at ATP.
how much a taxi is from taunton to minehead abouts?
have you lost your voice?
i am just scared the person on the other end of the phone will be too turned on by my husky sexy manly voice and will refuse my booking.
that or i am at work and would prefer to book online now. no bother though i guess
UPDATE: We will make Sunday wristbands available for those who want them in the production office over the weekend, so you will be able to come and we will put a wristband on you.
Also, they will be available from outside the venue just before the saturday gigs so people don't have to queue if they know they prefer Sunday.
It makes planning a bit easier, thank you.
What if you want to watch Buttholes/Fantomas on Saturday and Mastodon/Melvins on Sunday because of other bands being on? Which I planned to do.
Queue up hope for the best?
Problem solved, cheers :)
security will be happy to let you in regardless of you having the correct wristband or not?
see Junior Brown on the Saturday, but see Mastodon/Melvins on the Sunday? As there's no room clearing prior to Mastodon would security give me the shove?
But I bet it's simple as you like when fully explained.
Bring on next weekend!
No big stage is a plus but the wrist band thing will cause no end of problems.
They did it last year for Battles and it was an unmitigated farce. We got in there nice and early for the second set, there was plenty of room available - but everyone got kicked out and we all had to queue again to get back in.
They let the people with wrist bands in before anyone else - this might have worked fine but it felt like they were trying to wait for everyone in the whole festival with a wristband to turn up. I was getting pretty miffed that morons were turning up 30 mins late for Battles when they'd missed them the first time and had been given a second chance.
Battles started late and overlapped with Envy who I (and doubtless many others) wanted to see.
The real pisser is that when we finally got back inside, we went straight back to the table that we had been sat at before.
I pray that they've thought it through fully this time.
Having said all that, we did have quite a good laugh waiting in the queue as there was a gradual build up of typical English wanting to moan about something but not really going through with it.
i'm getting a bit excited now, even if i'm one of the fools who will be scuttling off early on sunday night .... i've got to be back at work in stoke for 7 on monday morning! not good.
"ATP apathy takes over and I don't bother"
So very very true, especially by the Sunday.
better be having a X Factor party on Saturday night.
starting to wish I did because I always end up staying up all night on the Sunday anyway and I could do with getting back early. Oh well.
by then so i always get the 7am
I got my Friday sorted watching wise;
Melvins 83 - Madlove - White Noise - Bit of porn and bit of OS Mutantes.
But still can't decide between Locust and Torche, and Isis and Zu.
Any suggestions as to which way to go for either of those clashes??
I too am still undecided about whether to see Isis or Zu. Quite easily one of the worst clashes I have ever encountered.
that Friday is a beast of a clash. I'm hopefully going for half Torche, half Locust, and all Isis (sorry Zu).
As in I can jump off the train and onto the (yes I have booked) coach without much fuss? Or is there a small journey required? Cheers!
right outside the train station. I donno whether the butlins extra 1s stop there too but I'm guessing that'll be the case.
on site, handily italicised for updating of your spreadsheets.
10.00pm-11.00am - LABEQUE SISTERS
That's gonna be one hell of a piano medley lol. either that or I'm guessing that's 11pm?
Isis (I do like Isis)
Cause I do love hardcore jazz.
Just not sure what they're like.
Muro Torto here:
as much as I'd love to see Zu, it's got to be Isis for me.
But I have seen Isis 3 times and they were boring as poo. I've seen Zu once and they were dead good.
Until we leave (there or there abouts),
We're driving down, from London.
Can anyone suggest a place for a lunchtime stop on the way that's not Bristol or a service station?
Old man pub style would be best, as we're old men!
We sometimes stop here. But it was closed in May for refurb. It now looks a bit shit.
We have also used this place a few times. Which was OK.
Food was OK the last time we went in.
Fuck me. It's amazing what you can do with free time and the internet..
Vocal Sampling and Bohren have swapped time slots.
so Bohren now play:
Saturday - Reds - 3pm
Sunday - Reds - 1.30pm
I now get to see ALL Bohren and ALL Parmegiani!!!
My spreadsheet is taking a battering....
where's the best place to look for updates on stage times on site?
I'm guessing some bands times will get shifted about at some point over the weekend too.
Although I still have to choose between James Blood Ulmer and Bernard. i think my original plan stands (seeing 40 min of bernard, unless james blood is soul funk wank)
an hour to an hour and a quarter depending on traffic i think?
SATURDAY - ATP CINEMA
11.15pm - 12.45pm - Special Surprise Film Screening
I enjoy nursing a hangover with an ice cream in the cinema.
My money is on that or the new Ellen Page vehicle
I'm hoping it's gonna be the Melvins / Cameron Jamie films. Would be particularly apt as Saturday is Krampusnacht (setting for Kranky Klaus)
Ish. Bit less. If it is that definitely go, it's fecking great. Well the first two at least. Also thee Melvins toured with this and they were talking about bringing it over:
may not be the best, but you get Hung Bunny / Roman Bird Dog to accompany it, which is some epic heaviness.
We didn't go. I will be disappointed if I find out I missed Trapped in the Closet.
the excellent ATP film.
