who's currating then?and what are the dates?need to put it the request book at work.jamie summers......
Swearing to secrecy must be the first part of his initiation.
am guessing it will be Dec 12th, 13th and 14th and Mike Patton will be curating.
Don't quote me on it though - am doing nothing more than conjecturing.
but that it will make me very very excited.
My Bloody Valentine curating.
Do ticket's normally go on sale for this? I need to lose my ATP virginity!
Alphabeat are curating.
Junior Senior are their first confirmation.
of them played
They were ace!
that Teenage Jesus & The Jerks and Throbbing Gristle will play! No idea who the curator will be though.
Chunklets 15th Anniversay perhaps??
would be ace
the Harvey Milk "Courtesy..." chunklet vinyl reissue. :D
I'm too cheap to buy it again :(
The Pleaser 2LP is available from Chunklet now too.
Although I haven't heard it. How does it compare?
70s style. Not too slow or sludgy but the songs are really good. And it has 'Lay My Head Down' on it which is one of the best HM songs I reckon. The second and fourth songs on the myspace http://www.myspace.com/harveymilk are from it.
70s rock & roll? They're good at that too.
not sure they'd curate an ATP though?
Last thing I heard about him he was writing an album which would more thsn likely be performed live. Fingers crossed eh?
Mike Patton vs The Melvins
Bands so far: Slayer, Squarepusher, Neil Hamburger. Yikes.
people have heard might not be true...wait and see!
got an amazing picture of brendan canning and klaire roberts in pikachu costume. will put online later!
i guessed that the pikachu-hat wearing girl was claire but wasnt sure enough to say hi.
did the DiS meet-up happen friday night? i was told i met a couple people, but cant remember anything after ten except looking at an exibition with lucyjay from these here boards.
envy and worlds end girlfriend were incredible, as was singing 'holland, 1945' in a chalet with random american/canadian band people at 5am sunday morning
will there be, like, actually, like moshing and stuf?
You and me reece. You and me. Let's raise some hell.
would be fucking awesome!
that it was one man curating
offa the ground all weekend...
aren't we clever.
he better get the reformed faraquet over
featuring the beatles on cd
i am booking this time off work as soon as i start my new job.
If so im there!!.
maybe one should be arranged?
not indie boy shrigley.
All festivals should be heavier.
well i hope so anyway
with The Birthday Party
I can only think of a few bands that she'd be likely to book, which could make for an unpredictable line up...
I think it would be so eclectic it'd make for a really interesting line up.
Cave In would possibly be my ideal choice even though I know full well that won't happen anytime soon.
I'm tearing out my hair in anticipation.
and it rhymes with 'mages away'
Mages Away to headline?
on their album cover?
And will there be any girls at this ATP?
the letter they send out makes it very clear on that point:
"What YOU Need To Provide!
You need to provide your own FOOD, DRINK, WOMEN, TOILETRIES including TOWELS/TOILET PAPER, HAIRDRYERS, and STRAIGHTENING IRONS etc etc."
As revealed in this very thread way up there somewhere...
oops. i only read the top bit and the bottom bit.
I need to know if this is in fact true. NOW.
Cause if it was I would absolutely wet myself.
first weekend of decmeber please
with Wire magazine. Or better still get Wire to do the whole damn thing.
I could go with another group of friends than this year!
and it could just be a series of silent shows as no one can talk to each other, or something :P
Could have a charades stage, and maybe a sign language gig in reds or something.
Best get Summers on the case.
i love both sites equally, but it was hellish getting back from camber after pitchfork. plus, any crumbs of home comfort accomodation-wise would be gratefully received while in the grip of a harsh english winter.
and more people can go, of course...
as it was the first place I went to for ATP but Butlins is a better site sizewise and the chalets are nicer. Also the flumes are brilliant!
Am unlikely to return to Camber, whilst there is a mInhead option. However I guess its easier to get bands to Camber due to its proximity to London/airports/ferry ports, rather than what must be a pretty arduous drive to North somerset for most people (not me though - selfish).
and still never found time to go swimming. this is another good reason to hold NBC there.
i think centre stage is my favourite of the five venues, too. big capacity and loads of vantage points. they really need to move that hotdog stand though, the onion stench gets pretty oppressive...
about the onions is true. although watching the GZA get one of them last NBC was kinda cool
It was great going back for Pitchfork. Smaller, more intimate venues (I'm not really one for bigger stages). No burger king and Pizza Hut - yay! Definately more social of the 2 sites as everone hangs out outside the Queen Vic. Never a queue and really easy to get to the front for any band that plays. + Its the spiritual home of ATP.
But, saying that, I think it'll be at Minehead for more numbers.
big ATP sell-out. Of course Camber is better. Bags more atmosphere.
but if it was UTR to curate, that'd be great as high chances are it'd be full of stuff i want to see!
flo rider vs journey
be seriously HEAVY!!
RIFFS and NOISE all weekend!!
curaters will be announced today.hopefully.fingers crossed.and all that
are gonna curate.
I'm not making this up. Barry told me at ATP this weekend. It's Patton vs Melvins. First announced acts are Slayer, Squarepusher and Neil Hamburger. Deal with it.
if barry might have told you in confidence?
but at Pitchfork i had a dream where this was what the Christmas one was.
be playing boogie woogie piano over every single band? it's gonna be a hot ticket with the world music crowd.
ATP Festival vs. ATP Tennis
(this is the first and only time I've stolen a joke from tom_from_sparks)
more then like 80% likely to be melvins? i need to sort my funds out now if so!

Mike Patton and Melvins are set to curate this year’s Nightmare Before Christmas, ATP’s annual festival held in Minehead, UK in December. Previous years have seen the likes of Thurston Moore and Portishead invite their personal favourites to perform over three days. Sources close to Ipecac, the record label co-owned by Mike Patton and Greg Werckman, have confirmed that this is going ahead as planned. The details are still sketchy, however the line-up will no doubt lean heavily towards Ipecac’s roster and Patton’s numerous projects. We will bring you breaking news on the event as it happens, so watch this space!
I literally just did a google search on the event to glean even the slightest tidbit of info... and here it was
After all this rumour-mongery getting me all excited.
What's the chance of Patton getting John Zorn to play? Pretty high I reckon. Probably lots more lovely jazz noise in there too, could even top the Thurston one for skronk. Fingers crossed.
i went when i was 16.
to be safe dont be the person booking the tickets and only drink alcohol in the chalet/get other people to fetch yr drinks, but i was fine.
just go with people older than you
could be amaging
It's going to be sludgetastic.
I hope Patton picks some good hip hop too.
This will be my first.
Amrep could be there! Halo Of Flies or something even!
Not until I get a ticket!
I was talking about my friend Amrep Davidson and an actual halo of flies though.
They could all possibly play!!
plus Isis, Neurosis and maybe some other good metal which never normally gets the chance to appear.
Along with Converge, Acid Mothers Temple, Envy, Boredoms, Lightning Bolt and, ahem, Turbonegro. That was a pretty heavy ATP, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of those played the christmas one (assuming it isn't Belle and Sebastian curating again).
Are Tomahawk still going now that Stainer is playing every festival in the country with his other band?
I'll shut up now, lest I jinx it.
by the fact they don't have a bassist.
I'd also like some dead awesome hip hop. El-P please.
I reckon it'll be John Barrowman. Liza Minelli ftw.
OH MY FUCKING GODDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tim Henmanfred Mann
Martina Navratalova Silver Mt Zion
Fantomas performing Directors Cut
plus tickets on sale now!
Only Zu and maybe Fantomas really excite me although I did enjoy Melvins at the last ATP. Dalek really suck.
I'm pretty darn sure that they will pick a superb lineup though so I reckon I'm there. Won't be such an easy sell to my mates as the May one though. 2-berth here I come...
i am so so mega excited about this
Odd Nosdam please?
this is going to be MEGA.
could entice mick barr over to our shores.
