Who came up with this term? And are they aware that "botique" is French for a very expensive, posh shop?
I was trying to work out when I first heard it. It was probably back before Bestival graduated to 'medium sized festival' status.
The term was being thrown around a lot regarding Secret Garden Party and I suppose the likes of End of the Road and the Big Chill fit the category too.
Especially in the context "Oh [big festival] is a rip off, I'm going to a boutique festival". You're not going shopping at YSL. Isn't the point that smaller ones are cheaper and friendlier? Maybe they should call them Local Butcher Festivals
I guess it's a sign of the times and our rampant consumerism. You can't just hold an event these days, you have to develop a 'brand' with multiple opportunities for cross marketing etc etc
rural Dorset pronounce yoghurt!
I trekked over to wimbledon for something called Womblefest only to find a closed venue, no notice of cancellation, apology, nothing, am hoping whoever "organised" it resides here so I can tear a fucking strip off them, useless clunts.
happiest when they're sucking on straw and copulating with close relatives!
