anyone going/know what its about?
(provided my tickets turn up, stupid postal strike!) and really excited about seeing ESG, The Fall and Gang Gang Dance! Just hope there aren't too many clashes. Anyone know the set times?
I'm well excited
I had very mixed feelings about it. Great weather and a lovely location but the fact that ESG and 2manyDJs didn’t play with very little explanation and Gang Gang Dance being refused permission to play because it was “too late” (this at a supposed 24 hr festival) left a very sour taste in the mouth. Also, when we first arrived we searched for the water taps only to be told that there wasn’t one and that all water had to be purchased (I’m pretty sure this is illegal). When a friend kicked off and demanded a tap they showed her where it was but requested that we “don’t tell anyone else” which quite frankly is disgusting. It was evidently undersold and I heard of bands not even being paid petrol money, nevermind their fee to perform.
So yeah, nice idea but dreadfully executed.
that makes me glad I didnt bother
how were the Fall?
but the set was far too short. I really enjoyed the day, but it was poorly thought out. It was a pain to find, mainly due to the fact it was dreadfully signposted, ESG cancelling really irked me (I guess it couldn't be helped), the set times were all over the place and bore very little relation to the published times, and worst of all, someone booked The fucking dreadful Hours and a band called "cheeky cheeky and the nosebleeds". Didn't know GGD couldn't play, i was sure they were setting up as i left? Gutted i missed them either way. On the plus side, there were some amazing bands (The Fall, Comanechi and These New Puritans especially), a lovely setting and a great atmosphere. Even with all the negatives, my friends and i were talking about going next year (line-up permitting).
Sorry for the rambling post...
P.S. Anyone know who the band wearing the robes were on the 2nd stage? They were on just before the afore mentioned "cheeky cheeky and the nosebleeds". From what i've heard of Ebony Bones i thought it may be them. They were pretty amazing.
and were then told that the stage had met the curfew at 3am even though the festival was meant to run all night. They came down to the crowd to explain the situation and said they had been given no food or drink all day and seemed generally very pissed off.
I'll be there Wednesday.
it sounded like a really good day in theory - hopefully it will be sorted for next year, if there is another one
Why on earth were Cheeky Cheeky & The Nosebleeds were added to the bill? They're a bunch of cunts, sound like sub-Libertines bollocks and the only people who seem to go to their gigs are bussed in from their public school.
if anyone wants to read it
