what's it like?
I'm put off massively by the lineup (especially as it's £110) but it could still be good. Hmmmmm.
I need more input here.
Never heard that joke before =P
<3 rilo kiley
There's still plenty of stuff to be announced, and it's only 6000 capacity which sounds quite cool. On the downside it's quite expensive, and on the wrong side of the country.
It's 4 nights' worth, and the facilities are nice, they serve nice food (hog roast, falafel, juices, none of that usual crap), and it's so small you can get right to the front and see your preferred bands. Not an amazing line up, but the general party atmosphere is the main thing, they have some great DJs and novel ideas to make things cool. Like a DJ in a treehouse and people dancing underneath it, naked people in hot tubs, dressing up themes etc.
get in! cant wait, last year was soooo good
because I'm From Barcelona will be playing, and also Fujiya & Miyagi too. But other than them I don't seem to like any of the other bands that much. Would probably go if a day ticket was available, but no luck there.
and friends of mine who were there last year were shocked by the number of 18 year olds who ascended onto the festival within a year.
So guess it depends on what you are after. I think it's still one of the better ones... and fancy dress is a must there.
My friend Michaelangelo wears really niec angel wings.
Should be going.
last year. DJ Treehouse and Up All Night were highs for me . Only downer was being chased by some guy dressed as a bride.
Are playing this. Despite the fact that we aren't mentioned on any of the publicity. Oh well.
are not listed in the publicity. Weird.
just me and my boyfriend. I saw it last year and it seemed pretty awsome but didnt go. We thought it would be quite refreshing gettnig a little fed up with meanfiddler and all.
I think what bkgirl says sums it up pretty darn well! From what sense i can make out of it.
And the whole thing is a bit hard to make sense out at the moment, but isnt that attractive!! Its so mad and the theam this year is taken from brave new world a book which has been compared a lot to 1984. They show how they have drawn in inspiration by all different sources and to me it shows this is created by enthuseastic excentric artists themselves and i simply want to see their creation.
Being a fan of surrealisum i think i'm going to enjoy myself here.
Plus festivals should be about discovery, not what you already know.
i might be getting a reduced ticket for 'exhibiting' myself
on dem main stage
I found out tonight it's 90% certain I have a free ticket to this festival. I AM SO EXCITED BY THIS NEWS. YAY.
I'm going to SGP for the first time this year, not quite sure what to expect. Hope it's as pretty as the AMAZING website.
taking their first pill for the, errr, first time.
Whatever... Still, WAITING to hear about free ticket.
Hope it stops raining. By then.
I've heard a few mentions of certain sections of the 20/30 something hooray set viewing SGP as one of the key dates in their 'alternative' season.
I think the SGP guys are based in Notting Hill which may explain that.
Still, as long as they're friendly that's fine with me!
should be mentioning drugs !! I dont touch drugs and go to loads of festivals and have a great time without them !! Its perfectly possible you know !!!
..........sound like a fantastic idea!
The whole art/creativity aspect of SGP really appeals.
I have no idea what to expect really, but, I like that.
Cannot wait for this festival went to this magical world for the first time last year after years of going to the reading festival and it was welcome change. Ok so the line up is not full of established names and crowd pullers but is only 6000 capacity and all things considered i think the line is really good.
and last year it had bands like larrikin love, Graham coxon, The rumble strips
I've been staying in for the past few weekends and really haven't spent anything in an attempt to have enough money for SGP.
The thing is I'm going to Truck the weekend before too and the SGP 'no booze' rule is a bit of a bastard when it comes to keeping the cost down!!
How much was alcohol and food last year?
I'm hoping that somewhere in the region of 120 quid should be enough, I'm sure I'll end up bringing beers/spirits with me anyway.
Tho the food is good ... are you greedy?
this year...free entry and stuff
be ok. ive done this to get into glastonbury for a couple of years and its always fun. you tend to meet lots of nice people.
pretty setting , nice folks . Goldierocks .... who was cracking last year and Echo and the Bunnymen.. Ledgend.
is it very wet or Ok. Do I need just wellies or a space suit??
Four days to go!
3 days to go and no ridiculously excited thread action!
..... bit worried about the rain tho.
Yeah, I share your rain concerns.
I'm trying to find out which rivers are near the site so that I can check that against the flood alerts in East Anglia..........
This is what days off are for!
and want to earn some money / help a poor band out?
beer isn't worth it, too bulky. But yeah wrap some JD in the middle of your tent or something.
like a clever person, am working behind the bar, and thus getting free entry and food and such like.
if anyone wants me, i'll be in the lake.
I had such a good time and will try and round up more people to go next year.
its secret remember!
Twas fabulous darling. loved everything about it! Even the amazing creations of shits.
Went for a swin in the lake and thought i was going to be eaten by the green weeds.
me and me tomis loved it sooooo very much x x x x x sleep now zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
still good though. Best bits were The Noisettes and Goldierocks for me. Both fav acts. Both made me rock my wellies off.
Apart from the general costumed tomfoolery, the highlights were:
Of Montreal playing lots off 'Hissing Fauna...' and having bizarre performance artists up on stage with them wrestling and being generally weird
We're From Barcelona being all round funsters with singalongs, balloons and ticker tape
Dans Le Sac and Scroobius Pip ripping the mike on Sunday
Echo and The Bunnymen playing Killing Moon - hotdamn!
to meet fellow DiSer Iwasalighteningkitten and friend Emma who were lovely girls, and hang out with Alex-in-Ciderland despite his talent for picking the festival's dodgiest bacon rolls!
Greatness.Goldierocks ROCKED, such a good set. Rilo Kiley 'nuf said.
The rogue trumpeteer during echo and the bunnymen.
And I'm From Barcelona - fantastico.
Kate Nash's no show left a bitter taste in the mouth on Sunday. Luckily Of Montreal cleared that up.
in the programme????
On the programme for 6:45 sunday.
As said on the board outside the living room:
"Kate Nash has pulled out of SGP. Apparently her agents have said she is 'too big' for this festival"
Damnit, a more collective name suite them better!
but this is next week! get in!
I'm going back next year, but I'll be sticking to veggie fare!
my band is playing so by that token it's pretty amazing. worth every penny
Why did I book a holiday over SGP time? :(
The website is just giving me a load of spiritual bollocks.
whether or not I'm going on how much I spend this weekend & weather reports.
The photo's online look good & I am curious.
three or four miles from huntingdon
and a few days later he plays in a church in leeds.
with my band.
like end of next week is going to be a scorcher - website says just 400 tix left for those who have yet to make their mind up
shaping up nicely! - wish they would put more of a clearer band itinery up though
Made my mind up last night. I'm going to be able to go up until Friday evening which is annoying but can't wait nontheless.
Great Stage, 2pm Tomorrow (Friday 25th)
inebriation? at a festival. oh dear. oh and it would be good if you could write a list of things that are acceptable to discuss at festivals.
"Secret Garden Party: no hip-hop here!"
you appear to have signed up just to moan about it.
Everyone I've spoken to said it was great. I want to go next year.
you sound tedious.
Oh no people talking loudly and having fun at a festival, for shame!
Best festival of my life and I'm pro.
Much less emphasis on the bands, and there were problems (like turning Grace Jones off before she'd finished) but mostly it was fantastic. Esser, Kare-uke, Circulus next to the mead tent, absinthe bar, Sons & Daughters, screen printing, dance off. And blowing up the pirate ship was brilliant.
back and loved it - just laughed and laughed all day and met some great folk and loved the End is Nigh vibe as the sun dipped. It is hedonistic - if I had kids I wouldn't take them there but if some other folk want to do that, that's their choice. The way I look at it, if you take your kids into an adult enviornment it's your responsibility.
Personally I find nothing more depressing than reading the phrase "carbon footprint" in a blog about a festival. It makes me want to get out a crack pipe in front of children and say "watch and learn kids, watch and learn".
there, is this true?
a mention must go th Head Gardener who pulled a nifty set or two as well
