Field Work IV with Timothy J Fairplay (The Asphodells / Emotional Response / World Unknown) and Gary Odyssey (Toby Frith / Bleep43 / Euro disco set!)
Friday 1st February
17 Sidney Rd
10pm-4am ~ £4 before 11 & £5 thereafter ~ Tube: Stockwell
It was going to be difficult to follow up Andy Blake’s marathon 4hr set, but Field Work is back with a bang for 2013 with a special double-header from Timothy J Fairplay and Gary Odyssey.
Timothy J Fairplay is one half of Asphodells with Andrew Weatherall and has put out brilliant solo records on World Unknown, Bird Scarer and Emotional Response amongst others. His DJ sets are full of wild slow-motion house and psychedelic disco freak-outs. Chug into the cosmos with this mix here: https://soundcloud.com/n-factorial-1/timothy-j-fairplay-bootleg-tlv
Gary Odyssey is the nom de guerre of Toby Frith, one of the guys behind the legendary Bleep43 nights. Dancefloor euphoria is 100% guaranteed from his selection of italo disco and early techno stompers. A typically super-fun mix here: http://www.bleep43.com/podcast/2011/2/14/podcast-197-gary-odyssey.html.
Once again we'll be transforming the backroom of a south London pub into a proper party. Expect a decent sound system, a dark dance floor filled with smoke and an intense laser show. Come for hassle-free dancing till the early hours with a friendly crowd and pub drinks prices all night long.
Transport: Grosvenor is off Stockwell Rd and a short walk from the tube. Buses 2/88 to Central & North from Stockwell or 109/159 to Central or 35 East from Brixton run all night.
