An electronic duo made up of Londoners Emily J and Tom E. Labyrinth Ear take their inspiration from film soundtracks, foreign pop and techno and have been described as “Ice-disco with a warm beating heart”. They first played for Club Mofo at Corsica Studios in late 2010, just before their debut ‘Oak’ EP was released as a free download, it's since been downloaded over 15,000 times! They've gone on to produce well received remixes for artists including Alex Winston and Local Natives, released a rework of Arthur Russell’s ‘This is How We Walk on the Moon’ (which made XLR8R’s ‘Best Downloads of 2011' list) and completed a US tour. ‘Apparitions’, their newest EP, was self-released digitally on the 7th Feb 2012 and the tracks ‘Amber’ and ‘Humble Bones’ have received coverage from the likes of Pitchfork and The Fader.
Big tings soon come for these guys and we're made up to have them back to headline our Xmas party.
Singer Harmony Boucher, Nicole Bettencourt Coelho (bass, vocals), Matthew Christensen (drums, vocals) and Paul Ressel (guitars, programming) are Vuvuvultures. Formed in London in 2011, the band began playing gigs in their adopted endz of East London; rehearsing often, eating pizza and releasing their debut EP through Popular Recordings earlier this year. Tours to Europe and around the UK followed, with two brain-bending music videos helping to spread the word further afield despite (or maybe helped by) their NSFW status.
‘Their jagged beats and gothic guitar crunches come straight from a whiskey joint in hell’s basement which has recently adopted a disco policy.’ The Independent
