THE RIFLE VOLUNTEER live
Oxford Town, Mississippi is a small settlement made famous by Bob Dylan in 1963 for the wrong reasons. Now it’s about to have the spotlight put on it again for all the right reasons, through budding indie outlaws Young Buffalo. These feral young talents are preparing to release their debut download single “Catapilah” through Young and Lost Club on January 3rd 2011 and a limited edition 7” vinyl on February 14th 2011. Their latest fan is Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, touting them as “a very exciting new band ” and tipping them to make an ‘album of the year’ in 2011. Young Buffalo are going from strength to strength and we can't wait to have them down!
2010 brought the band from strength to strength, touring the UK with The Slits, playing The Great Escape and a plethora of UK and North American dates. Their debut album has just been completed and pegged to the rusted clothesline to dry. It is as strong as Auntie Myrtle's yellow picket fence and their live show, as engaging as an evangelical car crash somewhere between the fork in the road and the damn hairs on the back of your neck standing loud, be sure to witness the absurd! 'Wooden Hearts' is the first single up, and they're giving it away on the link below!
The Rifle Volunteer
Have been releasing a single a month since September and are doing so for a whole year! Receiving great support from the likes of Steve Lamacq (6Music), Tom Robinson (6Music) and John Kennedy (XFM) as well as numerous blogs and websites they're a band on the rise.
"Were Grizzly Bear to create lo-fi acoustic beach pop, they might sound like Family." (FensePost)
"Lush, high notes of elegance...like Wes Anderson." (Cream Team)
