We're very pleased to say that our guest DJ at HDIF in Brixton this Friday is Amelia Fletcher, of Tender Trap and Heavenly and Talulah Gosh fame. Amelia used to live opposite the Canterbury Arms and was our semi-regular resident DJ for the first few years of the club in Brixton, so it's always a pleasure to welcome her back. As usual, she'll be playing a set of female fronted artists and bands. If you're going to see Magic Kids and Allo Darlin' at the Barfly that night, the show has a strict curfew of 10pm so plenty of time to get down to HDIF. Anyone showing their We Got Tickets printout for the Magic Kids gig will get a pound off entry to HDIF. Bargain!
Indie song of the week: "Little Brown Haired Girls" by Frankie Rose And The Outs. Excellent dream pop from the former Vivian Girls/Crystal Stilts/Dum Dum Girls drummer.
Sixties song of the week: "Le Jour La Nuit Le Jour" by Les Lionceaux. Following on from their storming Beatles cover at Brixton HDIF a few months back, Les Lionceaux rip through "All Day And All Of The Night" by The Kinks. En Francais!
And here's a list of what's coming up for the rest of the year at HDIF:
Oct 16th - Simon Balthazar (Fanfarlo).
Nov 5th - TBC.
Nov 20th - The Wave Pictures.
Dec 3rd - Kip Berman (Pains Of Being Pure At Heart) + Sean Price (Fortuna Pop).
Dec 18th - Gary Day (Morrissey).
Hope to see you on Friday!
