Crushing Death & Grief presents:
FUZZY LIGHTS + YOU ARE WOLF + C JOYNES
Thu 30th Sep @ The Portland Arms, Cambridge
Doors 8pm, £4 on the door
Fuzzy Lights was born in 2004 and has since grown from a two-piece violin and electric guitar duo to a five-piece band. This gradual change in line-up has allowed them to build on their sound by weaving together elements of psych-folk, Americana and noise-rock. Their new album ‘Twin Feathers’ (Little Red Rabbit) shows that Fuzzy Lights have brought about a natural development of their sound, at the crossroads of 1960’s British folk, and haunted noise rock. Vocals feature more prominently amongst the eerie melodies and meticulous arrangements than on 2008’s ‘A Distant Voice’, acting as strands threaded through the music. Never explicit or declamatory they paint subtle pictures, hinting at the quiet moments and open spaces that define the band’s immediate environment at the edge of the Fens.
YOU ARE WOLF
You Are Wolf is Kerry Andrew. She explores English folk songs and original material armed only with her voice, layering spoken word over looped vocal harmonies and delicate electronic glitches, onomatopoeias sometimes providing a rhythmic frame. The result is an enticing & hypnotic universe, in which a familiar warmth envelops the listener.
England’s most vital of the post-Takoma guitarists. The modern-day Histon giant.
