New shows at O2 and with Hot Club De Paris
‘Tug Of War’ – out now on iTunes http://bit.ly/editselect_tugofwar
“Come a little closer. That’s not close enough.” (Tug Of War)
Edit/Select are an art beat gang from London’s lower (south) east side. Their self-released single, Tug Of War, has been winning them some great shows recently (Lockstock Festival and the 30,000 strong People’s Day Festival) where industry in the audience have snapped them up for more!
They’ve just added London shows on 3rd August at The Watershed supporting Hot Club De Paris and play O2 Indigo on 6th August after being spotted tearing up the stage of Punk in soho with new wave power pop.
It’s early days for the young outfit but in their short career they’ve already got the thumbs up from Xfm’s John Kennedy and played the Jimmy Mizen benefit at the legendary Astoria II.The aftershow live set choice of Franz Ferdinand, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees also played Guilfest and were recently tipped by both City Showcase and Red Stripe Awards as well as showing in NME’s top 100 breaking bands. The future’s bright.
Liviing in the capital’s most creative quarter (South East X postcode, shoestring central) has it’s advantages, like a wealth of up and coming film making talent and unusual venues.
For instance Munki Media productions are responsible for their first video ‘Your Fire’ made a few months ago in The Old Police Station DIY Art Centre (which is exactly what it says it is). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEgcdudxZuM
In true Art Beat style Edit/Select are at the heart of co-promoting up and coming new music and special events and run their own regular club, ‘Toejam’ a travelling circus around New Cross and Deptford.
Edit/Select will release their first EP, proper, in Autumn. For now, come a little closer:
3rd August – Watershed, London SW19 (with Hot Club De Paris)
