As part of a wider event called ‘Unknown Pleasures, which celebrates the life of Ian Curtis on the 30th anniversary if his death, Un-Convention have teamed up with the creators of iconic indie-rock footwear, Converse, to search for 300 of the UK’s most promising creative minds to attend a once in a lifetime event.
Winning applicants will be taken to The Un-Convention Factory at the Heritage Centre, Macclesfield on May 8th. Here they will work with iconic figures in independent music, including Har Mar Superstar, Peter Hook (New Order), Karen Piper (Radarmaker) to record, design and release an album, in only one day.
Participants will be responsible for steering reputable bands through the record label process; planning, recording, designing, marketing and distribution of a remake of Iggy Pop’s classic album The Idiot, featuring a track each from:
I Am Kloot
The Virgin Marys
All processes will be based on democratic decisions between participants and industry innovators including Soundcloud, Music Glue and Radar Maker and cultural figureheads including:

This spectacular one-day conference brings together creative participants with promoters, musicians, record label bosses, music industry consultants and learned experts with to share their invaluable combined knowledge, with its DIT (Do It Together) ethos.
