kafs [Edit] [Delete] 7 replies 20:41, 1 July '09

hello again everyone!

Stench of Cooper's Market Muscle presents...

This is going to be a really splendid gig! 8 until late,
only £5!!! @The Brudenell Social Club, Hyde Park, Leeds

here's the flyer...

Dolby Anol (Tigerbass and Back Yard Recordings)
DOLBY ANOL on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Label mates with Gossip, Chromeo, KID606 and Eats Tapes, DOLBY ANOL are big Leeds favourite faces! They play all over the place from NYC to Moscow to Glasto back to their Glasgow home. The duo make mucky electro wonkytronics with their lapdogs, no quitting until you are dancing and this, sir/madam, is going to be a late one.

Zun Zun Egui (Blank Tapes Records)
ZunZunEgui on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

This is Kush's new band, ex-Designer Babies front man. Designer Babies are an all kicking and screaming legend of a band from Nottingham. ZUN ZUN EGUI have already played with David Byrne in the Royal Festival Hall, London and this is their first Leeds gig and not to be missed!

“They make a hypnotic blare-out sound that is making a joyful noise. Very on the corner, off it's head and a blast. This is "tropicalism" but with a influence of subterranean shaped rock edges and quick edits, Japanese progressive epicness and a heavy dose of Fela Kuti inspired eternal groove. East African guitar practise hotwired to Zappa like subversions and underpinned by a thumping rhythm section sounds hot. This is where the wild music lives on. Political, inspirational and dance.” - Incubate ezine (Incubate - Independent Culture)

The only thing I could think of to add to that is that it reminds me of the pleasant feeling of listening to Captain Beefheart&The Magic Band's loveable nonesense and wailings.

CHOPS! (Upset! The Rhythm & Chinchillatone)
CHOPS on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

This is what Upset! The Rhythm say...
“CHOPS are a wild, damaged-dance band, who leapt from the cauldron of Leeds' ever-evolving DIY musical stew and hit the ground running in 2007, hellbent on perfecting their spontaneous combustion of jazzoid excess and lock-popping party bombs.

The trio married up their love of fidgety drum patterns, effect-drenched saxophone and synthesizer showdowns in such a way that every broken sound that swelled forth was caked in euphoria and creeped-out gravity.”

Cowtown (On the Bone & Golden Lab)
MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/cowtownsuperstars

'Space rocket devo socks with tints of cow wow' - The Observer

Fizzy, electric, skewed tunage with a Deerhoof/Devo pile-up and bright primary colours.
