The Balky Mule, Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards & Inch-time will all be playing live in the Union Chapel Bar on Sunday 3rd May as part of the Daylight Music concerts. Plus DJ sets from Ben Eshmade and Lenny George.
On The Balky Mule:
Currently resident in Melbourne, Australia, The Balky Mule is the alias of Sam Jones, a highly talented, self-taught multi-instrumentalist, who over the past decade or more has been a key member of the vibrant Bristol post-rock scene, playing in numerous bands, both live or on records, including Movietone and Crescent (alongside his bandleader brother, Matt), Flying Saucer Attack, Minotaur Shock, and Third Eye Foundation. During this time The Balky Mules’ home-recorded releases have been confined to a handful of compilation tracks, remixes and tapes swapped among friends.
On Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards:
Dan Michaelson & The Coastguards is the new project from the singer of Absentee. His new album has been recorded with Henry Spenner (Fields), Laurie Earle (Absentee) Arnulf Lindner (Ed Harcourt), Romeo Stodart (Magic Numbers), Tom Gorbut and Henry Clarke (Rumblestrips), and Steven Adams (Broken Family Band). Throw in Icelandic producer Valgeir Sigurdsson (Bjork/Bonnie Prince Billy/ Nico Muhly), and further production duties of Nick Terry (Bernard Butler/Duke Special/Libertines).
DJ Magazine say of Inch-time's debut album "Stefan Panczak delivers another perfectly poised and perfectly tempered piece of sparkling, chiming and seductive electronica that's as subtle and beautiful as it is impossible to resist."
