The latest issue of Art Fist has now been sent to the printers and will be available to download from www.artfist.co.uk at the weekend. We have a new look magazine, with higher production values and a clearer format. If you would like to pick up a printed copy for free then come to the North Bar, Leeds on Friday from 8pm-1am. The Art Fist club night will feature Leeds performance artists Die Plankton on the wheels of steel – they’ll be playing a mixture of 60s-70s funk, soul, reggae, krautrock, post-punk and Euroboy anthems. The event is free and you will be able to talk to Art Fist staff and writers and have an opportunity to make suggestions and get involved with magazine in terms of writing, marketing, or web design. We hope to see you there!
The latest issue features interviews with local author Mick McCann, Leeds band Wintermute, reviews of Sky Larkin's debut album and Eileen Thorton's The Trojan Project (regular readers will remember that she shared the first chapter with Art Fist), we also have features about Jady Goody, Bramley Swimming Baths, TNA, and the Chiptune revolution. There is also art works, creative writing and all the other magic you have come to expect from Art Fist!
The deadline for the next issue is Easter weekend; we hope that you will submit some writing or images. Remember, Art Fist is open to all writers. We accept features, reviews, short stories, poetry, rants, comic strips. We prefer reviews to be about local events, musicians, theatre, and authors, but TV, cinema, video games, etc. need not be geographically specific .We like writing to be clear and free from jargon and work may be subject to sub-editing.
Please feel free to forward this message on to friends, collegues and anyone that you think may be interested in Leeds' finest arts magazine.
We look forward to hearing from you.
