For ten years now Sheffield Unions Fuzz Club has been at the forefront of promoting the best new talent on the scene.
Held every Thursday in the Student Unions Foundry and Fusion venues it has hosted such talent as Hot Chip, The Killers, Maximo Park, Bloc Party, Mystery Jets, Kooks, Chicks On Speed, Bat For Lashes, Florence & The Machine and many, many others.
The legendary indie pop disco has kept many a happy person - student, resident, parent/guardian - dancing the night away for the last ten years.
Fuzz Club is a melting pot of minds and creativity being responsible for several Sheffield bands forming with the only ambition being to grace the Fuzz Club stage.
And, for it's tenth birthday, Fuzz Club celebrates with a feast of Sheffield talent...
65 DAYS OF STATIC
Fuzz Club heroes and Sheffield industrial noise legends, 65 DAYS OF STATIC return to the Foundry stage to bring us a triumphant aural birthday treat for the past ten years.
The band have had a stream of constant success over the past 8 years, with 3 albums under their belt, tours of Europe, Japan and, most recently, a support slot with The Cure in the States.
With celebrated visuals from long time collaborators and Sheffield institutions MEDIA LOUNGE, this promises to be a very special show indeed.
KID ACNE (DJ SET)
Local artistic renaissance man, KID ACNE started out as an illustrator/graffiti artist, providing art work for Warp Records and most of Sheffield's walls, Acne released "Romance Ain't Dead" in 2007 to much love and acclaim.
As if he wasn't good enough already with the brush, pen and mic, Kid Acne will grace the Foundry stage for what will be a unique, eclectic and, ultimately, barn-storming DJ set.
"Yorkshire's finest rapper brings the noise"
Observer Music Monthly
"This is actually some addictive ****"
SMOKERS DIE YOUNGER
Sheffield avant-rockers de jour, SMOKERS are local mainstays and a significant cultural influence on the scene.
Having played a part in 65 Days' inception, Smokers have also contributed to Sheffield's presence as a musical force accross Europe with media coverage in Denmark, Sweden and an appearance on a Karl Lagerfeld compilation.
"SDY are the astounding, soul-embracing band you dreamed you were discovering throughout your teenage years. Except that this time, you don't have to grow up because the music's as wise as you are" Drowned In Sound, "X Wants The Meat" Review
Plus DJ Badabing will be bashing out an extra special tenth birthday set, sure to be choc full of Fuzz Club indie dancefloor standards from the past decade.
DJ Jimm will be doing something similar in Bleach, bringing the noise in Fusion with ample helpings of rock, punk, emo, metal and ska.
