Bad Uncle Presents...
Parts & Labor
"Parts & Labor is an American experimental rock/noise rock band. The group was formed in 2002 by B.J. Warshaw and Dan Friel in Brooklyn, NY and has since toured with other bands such as Battles, TV on the Radio, Deerhoof, Voltage, Breaker! Breaker!, Tyondai Braxton, Coachwhips, Japanther, Pterodactyl, and Matt & Kim. In 2007 they lost their drummer, but quickly recruited new drummer Joe Wong and added guitarist Sarah Lipstate, turning them into a four piece band.Receivers, their fourth album, was released on October 21st 2008 in North America and November 3rd 2008 in the UK through Jagjaguwar."
"Gentle Friendly are at this stage more of a raw booster than a sure-fire proposition – the tracks DiS has dug from MySpace and 'blog drift marking them out as cohorts in the quest for a more exotic London, drum-led, kiss-chasing with the likes of Abe Vigoda, No Age, Fuck Buttons. All the good stuff, then – word is they're holding better stuff close to their chest, so get set for a sweaty release of awesome this weekend, rusty love bubbling up in animal howls and box-busting rhythmic glee."
"We work with a Math/Prog Rock outlook. We also like well crafted pop music. We like our music to be colourful (like our trousers!). We like people liking our music. We like playing our music. We like music that does alot with very little. We like music that does alot with alot. We are constantly inspired by the self sufficiency of the alternative Leeds music scene. We like lots of different bands, i'm sure you can guess most of them. We listen to alot of music, some of us read alot of books, some of us don't read enough."
